Traffic Stop of ATV on Public Roads Leads to Arrest

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/10/2020 10:03 AM
Mountain Ranch, CA...On March 7th, 2020, at about 6:30 PM, deputies were patrolling on Whiskey Slide Road (Mountain Ranch) when they observed a male operating an off-highway vehicle on the roadway. The deputies conducted a vehicle enforcement stop and contacted the driver; suspect Zanko James Hilderbrandt (age 48, Mountain Ranch). Zanko could not provide any registration paperwork, and there were no visible identification markings on the vehicle. Deputies requested a California Highway Patrol Officer to assist with the investigation. After several minutes, the VIN was located under a coat of paint. Upon completing a records check, deputies learned the off-highway vehicle had been stolen on October 14th, 2019 from the Doster Road area (Mokelumne Hill). Coronavirus Arrives Locally as Two Cases of Confirmed COVID-19 in Copperopolis

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/10/2020 04:32 PM
San Andreas, CA...On March 10, 2020, following the informational update to the Board of Supervisors regarding novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Calaveras Public Health received confirmation that two members of a family in Copperopolis tested positive for COVID-19. Their exposure to COVID-19 occurred outside of Calaveras County. One of those community members is a child, who is currently enrolled at Copperopolis Elementary School. Public Health officials are coordinating with local schools on further actions. The family has remained isolated at home since this investigation began. Public Health is identifying persons who may have had close personal contact with these individuals, including friends or family members. Close personal contacts identified during this investigation will be quarantined. “With the discovery of these new cases, we may see additional cases of COVID-19 in the community,” said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. Calaveras High School to present “Oklahoma!” March 13 - 15!

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/10/2020 09:07 PM
San Andreas, CA...Calaveras High School Performing Arts is proud to present its Spring 2020 musical, Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” Onstage at the Calaveras High School Performing Arts Center in San Andreas for one weekend only, performances are March 13 at 7:00, March 14 at 2:00 and 7:00, and March 15 at 2:00. In a Western territory just after the turn of the 20th century, a high-spirited rivalry between local farmers and cowboys provides a colorful background for Curly (Zachary Zahniser), a charming cowboy, and Laurey (Amaya Halepota and Madeleine Hedger, alternate performances), a feisty farm girl, to play out their love story. Their romantic journey, as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road, contrasts with the comic exploits of brazen Ado Annie (J'Cie Garrett) and hapless Will Parker (Nate DeYarmon) in a musical adventure embracing hope, determination and the promise of a new land.

Sender's Market's Weekly Ad & Grocery Specials Through March 10th

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/08/2020 10:43 AM
Mountain Ranch, CA...In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we're still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you've got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered.

Enjoy a Great Weekend in the Mountains! Remember...Sunlight is the Best Disinfectant!

Posted by: thepinetree on 03/06/2020 08:32 AM
Arnold, CA...Yes, we all know Covid-19 fever is quite literally spreading in certain parts of the globe and in the US. A sneeze can spread a virus up to 6 feet. So what to do? Well you can pray the bug doesn't find you and self isolate at home and peer out at the world through one of your screens. Or you can head out into the great outdoors, keep a safe distance from all those pesky human petri dishes and naturally boost your immune system with fresh air, sunshine & ski, ride, walk, golf or play with us. All of our counties have less than 20 people per square mile. Your can help keep our local small businesses humming along as well. Put the old adage of "Sunlight is the best Disinfectant" and UV to a practical & fun use! Calaveras, Tuolumne, Amador & Alpine counties all have less than 20 people per square mile! :)
