San Andreas, Ca...On August 3rd, 2013, at approximately 6:45 PM, a 2003 Ford Escape with three passengers and the driver was travelling northbound on Highway 49. For unknown reasons, south of Carol Kennedy Drive, the vehicle traveled to the right, where the tires collided with the raised asphalt, causing the vehicle to travel down the embankment, collide with multiple trees and a wooden power pole, which then caused the vehicle to overturn one and a half times, coming to a rest on the roof. All four people in the vehicle were able to exit the vehicle on their own and wait for emergency assistance... |

San Andreas, CA....On 07/24/14 Corporal Alan Serpa and Deputy James Shackelford received an Attorney General’s Certificate of Commendation from California State Attorney General Kamala Harris for acts of bravery. On August 8, 2013, the two deputies responded to a structure fire at a residence on the 8000 block of Mountain Meadows Drive, in Mountain Ranch. Upon their arrival, the deputies were told that two people were trapped inside the fully engulfed structure. Corporal Serpa and Deputy Shackelford immediately entered the structure, without any fire gear, and encountering heavy smoke and extreme temperatures, without concern for their own safety. Reaching the room where the individuals were last seen, Corporal Serpa and Deputy Shackelford continued calling their names in an attempt to locate and save them. The bedroom door was hot and smoking, so the deputies decided to breach a wall, using a shovel that they had found in a garage. Inside, searching on their hands and knees, they withstood intense smoke and heat, and faced an encompassing fire...

San Andreas, Ca....Cowboy Minstrel, Pipp Gillette from Crocket, Texas, performs for the Calaveras Arts Council’s Music in the Park series on August 6. San Andreas’ beautiful tree studded Turner Park will be filled with happy cowboy music and story lovers on August 6 listening to this real live cowboy sing and play traditional cowboy music. Music begins at 6:30p and ends at 8:00p. Pipp lives and runs the family ranch. He is a true cowboy. He plays guitar, banjo, harmonica, and bones. Pipp sings in a strong baritone voice, of cowboys dying on the prairie, of outlaws and horses, of lovers saying farewell, of hard times come knocking at the door. He even does a few vaudeville and minstrel show comedy routines. Along with just being a cowboy minstrel, he is an award winning chuck wagon cook. To add to that he even makes decoys. In a very western way, you’d call them Renaissance man. What can’t he do?...
