San Andreas, CA...While diet fads come and go, the best practice for healthy living is rooted in something we heard as children from our parents: eat fruits and vegetables. It is as true today as it was a generation ago: Fruits and vegetables lead to a healthier lifestyle. September is “Fruits and Veggies: More Matters Month” – a national call to action designed to encourage Americans to eat more fruits and veggies. According to the Centers for Disease Control, more than 12.7 million children and adolescents ages 2-19 are obese, and a contributing factor is unhealthy eating habits.

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 19th Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 30th from 7am to noon at the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. “Our purpose is to serve our community in many ways,” said Bob Diehl, Hospital President. “MTMC cares deeply about the health and wellbeing of our community members and beyond. Hosting our annual health fairs is just one way that we are able to provide valuable and needed resources in our rural community.”

Murphys, CA...On September 23rd Bret Harte, Calaveras, and Summerville FFA chapters attended the 21st annual Concours De Elegance at Ironstone Vineyards along with the 4H Organizations. The event hosted over 300 antique vintage cars as well as vintage trailers, motorcycles, and wooden boats in an effort to raise money for the FFA and 4H organizations statewide. FFA members educated the public about the FFA organization, California Agriculture and specific leadership opportunities available to them through agricultural education.
Two Arrested After Search Warrant Served for Stolen Property in Copperopolis

Copperopolis, CA...This morning, 9-26-17 Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Detectives served a search warrant for stolen property at two locations in Copperopolis. Items positively identified as stolen were recovered from both locations. Some of the property recovered this morning was stolen from boats around Lake Tulloch as was previously reported earlier this month.
