Revitalizing Rural California..."Up from the UnderStory" Premiers on KVIE March 6th |

Up from the UnderStory, a 30-minute television documentary directed by Jesikah Maria Ross, shows how an isolated rural community in the Sierra Nevada foothills has come together to overcome social, economic and environmental challenges after a century of mining and logging. The documentary premieres on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 7:00 pm PST on KVIE Channel 6. A broadcast screening and reception featuring rural residents and university scholars involved in the project will take place on the UC Davis campus in 126 Voorhies from 6:30-8:30 pm. .....

New Pertussis Immunization Requirement For Incoming 7th – 12th Graders |

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Public Health Department is alerting parents and guardians of students entering 7th through 12th grade next school year of a new California immunization requirement. All students entering 7th – 12th grades must have a pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine booster before starting school. The new law goes into effect statewide with the 2011-12 school year... |

Calaveras County, CA...The struggling Redskins bounced back Tuesday night with a 62-40 defeat of the Argonaut Mustangs. They showed off their defensive prowess, holding the Mustangs on only 9 points in the first half, 2 in the 2nd quarter. While they were expected to win this game, such a commanding win could help get some momentum going before playoffs. The Redskins showed some diversity, with eight players scoring in the game. Argonaut snapped their two game win streak......

San Andreas, CA...We just spoke with Ray and Sharon Waller and he has confirmed that jury awarded him $520,000 in his case against Calaveras County today. The case centered on the release of his personnel files to the public and other details around his dismissal from the county when Stephanie Moreno became the Community Development Director. From Mr. Waller this evening..."We would like to thank the members of the jury and community. They have confirmed that the legal process works and that individuals can use the system to address wrongs." |

Mountain Oaks School, San Andreas, CA....The Mountain Oaks Eagles' Basketball squad met with a thunderous offense as Tracy's Delta Charter Dragons continued their undefeated streak for this season, putting down the Eagles 66-51 in a rather one sided contest on the court. Leading scorers and dominating the court for the night were all Dragons, as Woods (#13) and King (#21) delivered for 28 and 19 points respectively. Doing their best for the Eagles, were Ramos (#23) and Wassik (#14) who came in for 17 and 11 points respectively for Mountain Oaks....

Tim was voted out earlier this week by the newly reformulated CCOG Board.
