Angels Camp, CA...Last Wednesday evening the Bret Harte Multi-Purpose room was filled with a good sized crowd engaging in community participaton on the future of traffic in the Angels Camp area. The group answered a complete battery of questions about what was important to them. This was the first of three meetings planned for the study. Angels Camp, CA...William Donald ( Don) White passed away January 22, 2015 in Angels Camp, he was 89 years old. Don, as he was known to his family and friends was a long-time resident of Angels Camp. He was born on August 15, 1925 in Alameda, California. He attended and graduated from Alameda High School in 1942 where he was on the Dean’s List, a member of the R.O.T.C. and performed in the high school acting theater. Following high school , Don joined the United States Army Air Corp and became a bombardier assigned to various heavy bombers during World War II. Murphys, CA....Plans for the 2015 Murphys Irish Day, the popular community celebration that each year draws upwards of 10,000 people to the historic Gold Rush town, are well under way. Always presented on the third Saturday in March by the Murphys Business Association (MBA), this year’s event will be held Saturday, March 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. One of the first orders of business is the creation of the Irish Day Parade that will wend its way down Main St. to the swirl of bagpipes starting promptly at 11 a.m. Recognized as one of the premiere parades in the Mother Lode, it always presents a wide array Irish-themed floats, marching bands, youth groups, community organizations, classic cars and other motorized vehicles. Local fire departments and law enforcement are well represented and there is bound to be a leprechaun or two...
