The Murphys Library is proud to support four local graduates who have gone on to pursue higher education. Made possible through the generous donation of the Loretta Fox Memorial Scholarship, the Murphys Volunteer Library, Inc. offers scholarships of $2000 for continuing education. Murphys, CA...Hello, We had a nice little dog show up on our porch this morning looking cold and confused. She looks like a spaniel and she is wearing a blue camo sweatshirt. She seems to have arthritis and is very hard of hearing but she is friendly and well groomed, obviously someone's pet. We are located on Skunk Ranch Rd in Murphys, cross street near Mine Dump. Please help us find her owners! Update...Dog & Owners are now back together.

Rotarians Help Provide Mobility |

San Andreas, CA...Angels-Murphys Rotary Club Past-Presidents John Holleman and Roger La Jeunesse have an ongoing project of collecting broken and used wheelchairs and other mobility devices. Rotary District 5220 has partnered with Hope Haven West to repair and distribute the wheelchairs where they are sorely needed. Members of Riverbank Rotary have gone on delivery trips to fit specific recipients with their chairs in Mexico, Honduras, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Chairs and equipment which need repair are sent to the South Dakota State Penitentiary where inmates refurbish them. The wheelchairs are provided primarily to children who are living with undiagnosed spina bifida, multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy. Some are adults who have never had a means of movement other than being carried by family members...

Murphys, CA...Under Calaveras Sheriff Volunteer Sgt. Vic Farina’s supervision, four other Sheriff Volunteers (Sgt. Ralph Carlascio, Louis Chiu, Kathleen Gonzalez and Judy McMurtry) provided traffic control and crowd control during the Murphys Open House last week.
