Murphys, CA….Hundreds of people turned out for the Annual Festival of Wine fundraiser held on Saturday. It was an enjoyable event where family and friends could stroll downtown Murphys, enjoy delectable hors d’oeuvres, and sample extraordinary wines from Calaveras Counties finest wineries. The day started with check in where participants received a Festival of Wine engraved tasting wine glass. 19 different wineries participated in the event and had qualified staff to answer any questions about their specific wines…..

Murphys, CA...Murphys Creek Theatre is excited to announce open auditions for our Summer 2008 comedy, William Shakespeare’s “The Merry Wives of Windsor!” Auditions will be held at the Cordelia B. Stevenot Amphitheatre in Murphys on Saturday, April 26th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. No monologues will be required; the audition will consist solely of cold reads from “The Merry Wives of Windsor.” All ages and levels of experience are invited to attend. ....

Murphys, CA....Soroptimist International of Calaveras County awarded $11,350.00 in scholarships and charitable gifts during their annual Awards Dinner held on April 17th at Kautz Ironstone Vineyards. Former County Supervisor, Lucy Thein, received the Making a Difference for Women award presented by SICC member, Karen Varni. Ms. Thein was recognized for her decades of service to Calaveras County, including her work for Turner Park in San Andreas and Habitat for Humanity. The Making a Difference for Women Award included a $250.00 cash to further Habitat for Humanity’s goals.....
