Community Open House for O’Byrnes Ferry Bridge Project to be held on April 4 |

Copperopolis, CA...Calaveras County is hosting a community open house on Wednesday, April 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Copperopolis Fire Station, 370 Main Street, to provide information and receive input from community members on the O’Byrnes Ferry Road Bridge rehabilitation/replacement project. The purpose of the project is to improve the safety of the bridge and its approach roadways. This phase of the work will identify feasible alternative alignments, estimated construction costs, and funding sources....

San Andreas, CA..We will be going back to posting the Sheriff's Logs daily instead of a once a week summary. The main reason is that with AB109 and other early releases there had been a marked increase in Home Burglaries, Crimes of Opportunity and Thefts. This is happening all over the county. From thieves going from car to car looking for unlocked doors in the Valley Springs area to men walking into a home in Blue Lake Springs in the middle of the afternoon, to potential home invasion style residential burglaries near Angels Camp where suspects entered homes while the residents were sleeping in bold and brazen robberies....

Major Injuries to Copporopolis Man in Yesterday's Accident |

Copperopolis, CA...A 47 year old Copperopolis man lost control of his Porsche, sheared off a power pole and he and his vehicle came to a rest partially submerged in Copper Creek. It was from what we have learned a very tough rescue for those involved with the water and major injuries to the patient. He is being treated at Memorial Hospital in Modesto. Copperopolis, CA....Just after 4:30pm this a vehicle overturned on O'Byrnes Ferry Road just east of Lake Tulloch. A 19 year old male was transported to Memorial Hospital in Modesto with Major Injuries... |

Total daytime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible. Tonight: Snow. Low around 24. South southwest wind between 17 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches possible....

Homeowner’s Association Employee Arrested for Embezzlement of Over $25,000 |

Copperopolis/Angels Camp, CA... On November 8, 2011 Calaveras Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to take a report of embezzlement from the Copper Cove Homeowner’s Association (CCHA). The investigation was initiated after a CCHA internal audit revealed that substantial funds in the account were unaccounted for. It was alleged that throughout 2011 Heather Kathleen Vannatta (38) of Angels Camp, the association’s payroll/accounting employee, embezzled over $2,400 in fuel and over $4000.00 in goods from local businesses using the association’s credit cards and/or business accounts. She also allegedly over-paid her salary in excess of $18,000.00... |
