Weekly Market Update Week of August 23, 2010. ~By Donna Stevenson, Pacific West Financial

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/27/2010 08:57 AM
Copperopolis, CA...THE MARKETS: Stocks faced another choppy week as concerns surrounding employment and slow economic growth combined with low trading volume to send indexes lower. For the week, the Dow shed 0.9% and the S&P 500 slid 0.7%. The Nasdaq managed a scant 0.3% gain. Even as a stellar earnings season draws to a close, strong corporate balance sheets haven’t been enough to bolster the faltering optimism of investors. Of the 484 companies in the S&P 500 that have reported so far, 75% have beat expectations according to Thompson Reuters (compared with a quarterly average of 62%). Despite this silver lining, the S&P 500 has lost about 0.1% since the beginning of earnings season on July 12th....

Emergency Vehicle Access Road Becomes a Hot Topic in Copperopolis ~ By, Charity Maness

Posted by: Charity_Maness on 08/21/2010 05:16 PM
An emergency vehicle access road that proposes to connect Castle & Cooke’s Sawmill Lake planned subdivision in Copperopolis to an existing homeowners association subdivision has some residents concerned. The proposed EVA road would run north south from a collector road within the Sawmill Lake project, just west of the new Town Square in Copperopolis, running through private land spilling out at the end of Beaver Court in a rural residential area.

Weekly Market Update Week of August 16, 2010 From Donna Stevenson of Pacific West Financial

Posted by: thepinetree on 08/19/2010 11:06 AM
Copperopolis, CA...After slight gains on Monday, all three major indexes – the Dow, the S&P 500, and the Nasdaq – closed lower every day from Tuesday through Friday amidst weak economic data and disappointing earnings results. Equities also faced pressure from the Federal Reserve’s warning that the recovery is weakening. In a statement made Tuesday, the Fed admitted that “The pace of recovery in output and employment has slowed in recent months." It also added that while it still expects the economy to grow, the improvement will be "more modest in the near term than had been anticipated." This outlook was among the most pessimistic to come from the Fed in over a year, and it seems to have cast a cloud over stock performance. For the week, the Dow lost 3.3%, the S&P dropped 3.8%, and the Nasdaq slid 5%.
