Arnold, CA...Dave Edney, A.k.a. Captain Dave, Pirate Dave, Super Dave, Teammate, Loyal friend, Son, Brother, Papa, Dad, Hon. Born. May 7, 1960, Died. February 13, 2016 (by all accounts TOO SOON!) Rain, shine, sleet or snow please join us for a Remembrance and Gathering of Storytelling on Thursday February 18, 2016 anytime between High Noon and 501 at the Lakemont Lodge, 3211 Lakemont Dr., Arnold, CA 95223.
Bear Valley, CA...It is with great sadness, the Bear Valley Fire Department and Bear Valley Search and Rescue announce the passing of one of their members; Dave Edney. On February 13th, shortly after completing one of his notorious workouts, Dave collapsed, and in spite of the efforts of the responding medical personnel, Dave passed away. The exact cause in still unknown. Dave will be remembered for his unequalled work ethic, his unbelievably positive attitude, no matter what the circumstances, and his willingness to do anything to help a friend. Dave was an extreme endurance athlete, who completely embodied the Bear Valley lifestyle in his love of the Great Outdoors.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! A calm clear morning is at hand and will give way to a day filled with sunshine, temps around 63F and winds out of the ENE from 5-11mph. Tuesday looks to be a repeat before the next storm system moves over NorCal. Wednesday looks to be ramping up as far as snow totals and at the current time we could pick up 1-2' by Friday a.m. Come on up and Enjoy the easiest drive to any resort on the west slope, all weather Highway 4, always open, easy and fun! Don't forget about our "Pure Mtn Fun" attitude because it's local, real and a whole lotta PMF!
Strawberry's Keely Cashman 10th In Youth Olympic Super-G In Lillehammer Today!

Lillehammer, Norway...Strawberry's Keely Cashman was the top American woman today in the Super-G on the Hafjell Olympic Slope during the Youth Olympic Games. She skied into 10th place. Austria's Nadine Fest took home the gold. Keely started her career on the Dodge Ridge Team and then to the Bear Valley team for several years before Squaw Valley and the US Ski Team's National Training Group...

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Presidents weekend looks to be a great one with events and beautiful weather! Today will be another beautiful day with lots o' sunshine and temps coming in around 59F and South Southwest winds from 3-6mph. The recent break from snowy weather has given NorCal superb spring like conditions for skiing and riding. beautiful weather will continue into and thru the weekend and will only add to all the fun to had this weekend in Bear Valley. Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! As High pressure firmly parks itself over Nor Cal another sunny day is on the slate! Beautiful blue skies coupled with warming temps gives way to awesome groomed conditions on the hill today. The off-piste skiing/riding still has some good fortune if you seek to find it. Todays high will be right around48F with East winds to 5mph. The weekend continues with beautiful weather which looks to stay in place for the next 6 days or so......... Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! We picked up another 2" yesterday during the day as riding was exceptional for those who ventured forth. Today we'll see a 30% chance of snowfall with temps hovering right around 35F and winds out of the SW from 5-7mph. Thursday ushers in clear weather as High pressure takes hold and sunshine will be the thing through the weekend. Temps will also warm up to the mid 40's and up over the next 3-4 days and the nighttime lows will also increase from 22F tonight to the low 30's by the weekend. Snow coverage is awesome and it's a great time to come and visit Bear Valley. Come on up and Enjoy the easiest drive to any resort on the west slope, All Weather Highway 4, always open, easy and fun! Don't forget about our "Pure Mtn Fun" attitude.
Arnold, CA...Today will be a sunny day in most portions of the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada region. Rest Of Today: Mostly sunny. At higher elevations...scattered snow showers early in the morning. Breezy. Highs 23 to 38 higher elevations...37 to 45 lower elevations. Little or no new snow accumulation. Prevailing northeast winds 10 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Tonight: Mostly clear. Lows 9 to 24 higher elevations...22 to 32 lower elevations. Prevailing north winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight.
