Blizzard Warning Above 6,500 Feet Beginning Wednesday Evening. Some Areas May Receive Up To 9 Feet of Snow

Arnold, CA...The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued a Blizzard warning for our area. Carson, Ebbetts & Sonora Pass areas are forecast to receive the deepest layers of snow from these systems. Heavy snow expected above 5000 feet. Blizzard conditions expected above 6500 feet beginning Wednesday evening. Travel will be very difficult to impossible, including during the morning commute on Thursday. The combination of a heavy, wet snow with high winds may down power lines and trees. Between 5000 and 6500 feet, total snow accumulations of 2 to 3 feet, with localized amounts up to 4 feet, are expected. Above 6500 feet, heavier snowfall is likely with accumulations of 5 to 7 feet, locally up to 9 feet.

Back in the early 90’s, when Shawn was selling out of the back of his truck as “The Eddy Mart”, the most important items to have on hand were life jackets, river shorts, sandals and river knives. Oh yes, and a few things the rafting customers would want, t-shirts, hats, sunscreen, etc. It became obvious that The Eddy Mart was getting too big to operate out of a garage when the whitewater kayaks came. It was time for a storefront. That’s when providence arrived on the scene.

Arnold, CA...Peddlers Market is now open in Arnold's Cedar Center. The owners Robert Tedore and Trisha Thompson a husband and wife team, have turned their love of collecting into a new venture. Their hand-painted furniture gets a new life as a unique statement with a rustic touch. Their eclectic point of view includes the hand painted furniture, rustic, vintage, antique, hand made, and more. They are open every Fri, Sat & Sunday from 11am - 5pm.
Arnold, CA...Former Arnold resident, owner of Arnold Welding, and U.S. Army veteran, Vernon Lee “Archie” Lowry, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2019 in Auburn, California. Archie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Clara Boyce Lowry. Archie is survived by his wife Pat Grigsby, children Barbara Ann Perry (Mark), Mary Marguarite Lowry, and Terry Lowry (Darlett), as well as six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Archie was a member of the Arnold Rotary Club for many years as well as an active Mason, Shriner, and Elks Club member.
San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Michael Minkler has been hired as the new general manager of the District. The Board unanimously approved his contract on Wednesday January 9, and his first day on the job will be February 19. In November, CCWD’s general manager of four years, Dave Eggerton, took a new job as the Executive Director of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA). Since Eggerton’s departure, the CCWD Board named Jeffrey Meyer as interim general manager.
