Angels Camp, CA...Dear Friends, As many of you may know, Mic Harper, band director, was instrumental (no pun intended!) in starting Rosendo's musical "career" way back in the 4th grade - little "recorders", flutes - at Michelson Elementary School. She then invited him to play on some drums at a small school performance, and that was the real beginning. When he was in sixth grade up at Avery Middle School, she asked him to start participating in what was then the Calaveras County Community Band, and he attended Monday evening rehearsals and performances as often as he could. He joined the Avery Band, which was a class taught by Mic, and went on to attend music and band classes at Bret Harte High School under the direction of Dave Allured for four years...

Posted by: thepinetree on 10/31/2013 12:27 PM
|
San Andreas, CA...As fall brings cooler weather and the first signs of rain, many people believe that fire season ends. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit, is reminding all residents that burning remains suspended. Fire danger remains high across the Central Sierra and the chance of large and damaging fires still exists. Even though the area has experienced cooler temperatures and a little moisture, it only takes one day of dry winds to bring the fire danger back to extreme...

Arnold, CA...Last Friday, October 25th, Mrs. Furuya's bike went missing from the picnic table area. She rode it to school like always, & at 3:15, when she was ready to go home, the bike was gone. We got in our cars & searched everywhere we could think of, high & low, but came up empty. It's a powder blue 21-speed with disc brakes. The brand is Avalanche Nio, the bike wasn't locked, as Mrs. Furuya has been riding it to & from for many years & has never had a problem, not even a concern. She was very sad that afternoon... |

Higher Speeds Through Arnold Causing Concern ~Part One By John Hamilton |
Posted by: thepinetree on 10/30/2013 12:28 PM
|
Arnold, CA....Recently speed limits though Arnold have been raised. In fact now as you head down the hill into Arnold it is 55 mph all the way to Giant Burger until it drops down to 35 mph before picking back up to 45mph through Arnold. One homeowner we spoke with who's driveway exits onto Hwy 4 across from Sarafina's actually drove to the Video Box Office across the street because he felt uncomfortable walking as he normally did in the past....
Above is now where the speed limits briefly drop from 55mph to 35mph before picking back up to 45 mph. These changes go directly against the Arnold Rural Livable Community Plan approved in 2008. Just click on the plan cover image above to see what was agreed on. |
