How to keep your computer safe and sound will be among the topics when the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) presents a “Potpourri of Information” at the club’s Tuesday, August 9 meeting that will begin at 7 p.m. in the assembly room of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District, 1037 Blagen Rd., just off Highway 4, in Arnold. ....
“It’s time for the Annual Raffle Fundraiser for Park beautification and maintenance with a chance to win a 1st prize of $500 or 2 - $250 2nd prize. Your tickets will be in your post office boxes this week, so please, return your stubs and money in the enclosed return envelopes” urged Bertha Underhill, President of the White Pines Park Committee. The winners will be announced at the Sierra Nevada Logging Jamboree on September 3, 2011 at the Logging Museum. The tickets are $5 each or 6 ......

We are still getting plenty of fish planted. White Pines, Beaver Creek, North Fork of the Stanislaus, and Angels Creek will be planted this week. Last week Lake Alpine, Mosquito Lakes, and Union Reservoir were planted. Should be another awesome fishing week on our corridor. Make sure to purchase your fishing license before you head up the Highway 4 corridor as our license machine is slow and we have had some problems with the machine.....

Arnold, CA...Stop by the CHS Thrift Store Adoption Center in Arnold this week, Thurs - Sat., 10-5pm. Located in Meadowmont next to Big Trees Market - Phone 209-795-GIVE. DAPHNEY (top of bowl) and LILY (bottom) are just two of the 8 adorable kitties available for adoption this week at the Adoption Center. They are all spayed and neutered already, have been tested for FIV/FELV (neg.) and are current on their shots. Each adoption includes a FREE health check with a Calaveras County vet and we only ask a $50 donation (or 2 for $80!) to help offset the many expenses.

Arnold, CA....CAL Fire states a campfire was the cause of a small spot fire on the 1100 Block of Dunbar Road in Arnold on Friday. Multiple crews responded. CAL Fire Report enclosed...

Arnold, CA....Join in the fun this Sunday for the Ebbetts Pass Forest Watch 11th Annual Picnic at Pinebrook picnic area off Moran Rd. in Arnold from 3PM to 6PM. Ebbetts Pass Juniors and Minors Make Ebbetts Pass History

In the history of District 15 no Ebbetts Pass All Star team has won the championship. That was until this year. The Juniors led by Austin Miguel (who went 9-11 in the tournament) and the great pitching of Will Achterberg (who threw a complete game in the final game) won the District 15 Championship and will play at Bear Creek High School in Stockton Saturday morning for the start of the Section 6 Tourney. When asked what it takes Kyle Kraft made it a point to say that he eats his Wheaties every morning and it is the breakfast of Champions.....
