They initially will be open weekends from 7:30am until they are sold out and for their opening they are offering a free coffee with your purchase. As Donnell Fire Growth Slows Resources Starting to be Released |

Bear Valley, CA...The Donnell Fire, currently at 36,335 acres, exhibited moderate fire behavior yesterday with isolated torching, creeping along the forest floor, and minimal fire spread through spotting especially on the northern and eastern sides of the fire. The potential exists for minimal spread to the north and east along the Highlands Creek, Arnot Creek, and Disaster Creek drainages via spotting. While large fire growth is not expected, this area of the fire, with steep, remote terrain, will continue to be the main focus for firefighters as the rest of the fire line is holding well. Crews on other parts of the fire will continue to secure, strengthen and monitor existing containment lines.

Boil Water Notice Issued for 150 Customers in Big Trees Village |

Dorrington, CA...The Calaveras County Water District is issuing boil water notices to about 150 customers in the Big Trees Village area Thursday afternoon, due to wildlife intrusion into one of CCWD’s redwood water storage tanks. Notices will be hand-delivered or posted on the front doors of all impacted customers. Customers who will be impacted include: All of Meko Drive, All of Midoo Way, All of Blackfoot Circle, All of Miwuk Lane, Shoshone Drive between 1830 and 2027

The Donnell Fire Now 36,288 Acres & 63% Contained |

Bear Valley, CA...The Donnell Fire area is approximately 36,288 acres and continues to burn on the eastern perimeter into and within the Carson-Iceburg Wilderness. Yesterday the fire continued to slowly burn through mixed conifer, timber understory and the forest floor with very short range spotting into islands of available fuels. The fire burned in a mosaic, patchy pattern versus a continuous flaming front. The main fire camp and incident command post have moved to Bear Valley Mountain Resort to better support the crews working on the north and east sides of the fire. The satellite camp in Kennedy Meadows and command post at Pinecrest School remain to support firefighters working on the southeast side of the fire area.

Camp Connell, CA..Kathleen “Kathy” Ann Daniels a long-time 40 year resident of Camp Connell, California peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, August 20, 2018 in Chico, CA. She was 75. She was born on October 10, 1942 in Stockton, CA to John “Jack” Lee Richards and Carmen “Sissy” Elvira Leyva. She met and later married her high school sweetheart, Peter “Pete” Daniels of Turlock, CA on November 4, 1959 and had three children, Christine Louise, John Joseph and Liane Rebecca.

Bret Harte to Celebrate their 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Class |

Angels Camp, CA...Bret Harte High School is delighted to celebrate 19 individuals and one team as the first induction class in the Bret Harte Athletic Hall of Fame. Induction will take place during “Hall of Fame Weekend” scheduled for Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29, 2018. Inductees will be introduced at the home football game before varsity takes on Sonora High School on Friday, September 28. Inductees will be honored at the Inaugural Induction Ceremony the evening of Saturday, September 29 at Mark Twain Hall, Calaveras County Fairgrounds. Long time Bret Harte coach, Harold Clements, will be one of the inductees honored. Coach Clements started his teaching and coaching career at Bret Harte in 1968. Immediately upon his arrival, he began coaching football and track. During his 22-year tenure coaching football from 1968-1990, he led his program to 110 wins, five MLL championships and three section runner-up titles in 1978, 1986 and 1987. In 1979, Clements led his football team to a section championship. During Clements’ tenure coaching track, he led his teams to 55 MLL championships and two section championships.

Having a General Contractor and Master Cabinet Maker for a father, I grew up around design and construction. I learned many skills from him over the years, and something was always being remodeled in our house! I worked in high-tech through the 1980’s, but then decided to switch gears and work in the family business when I wanted to have my second child. Working side-by-side with my father, I was the Office Manager in his business for 10 years, but also gained extensive knowledge of cabinetry design, construction, materials and hardware. At that time, I was also remodeling my first home (room by room), and was bitten by the design bug, so headed back to school to receive an Interior Design Certificate from U.C. Santa Cruz.
