Fleeing Suspect Tracked Down by Police K-9 Team and Deputies

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/05/2013 03:35 PM
Arnold, CA...On 11/04/13 at 10:20 am, a Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputy contacted a male adult, identified as James Qualls (41) of Avery, pushing a bicycle alongside Highway 4 near Rancho Paradiso Road in Arnold. Upon speaking with Suspect Qualls the deputy determined that Qualls was under the influence of a controlled substance. As the deputy attempted to inquire further about his observations Suspect Qualls suddenly ran away from the deputy into the wooded area, abandoning his bicycle and a backpack. The deputy gave chase but lost sight of Suspect Qualls. Other deputies, along with an Angels Camp Police Department K-9 team arrived at the scene to assist with the search of Suspect Qualls. The K-9, who goes by the name of Kato, was able to pick up the scent and quickly locate Suspect Qualls hiding out in a dry creek bed. A follow up search by the K-9 on the path taken by Suspect Qualls turned up a cigarette pack containing suspected methamphetamine. Marijuana and drug paraphernalia was also found inside Suspect Qualls’ backpack....

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/03/2013 11:36 AM
Calaveras County, CA...If you own a cabin in Calaveras County, you're most likely used to experiencing power outages multiple times during the winter months. When we lived in snow country, we had our share of power blips--from hours to even days without the ability to run our furnace, flush our toilets, or even have cold food in the refrigerator...

We have installed several systems like these, including one for this wonderful couple, the de Neveu family in Dorrington, and have been impressed with their ease of use and ability to service our customers during power interruptions.

Calaveras Community Band votes to donate Fall Concert proceeds to Rosendo Rojas' medical expenses! ~A Mother's Letter By Karen Rojas

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/02/2013 10:43 AM
Angels Camp, CA...Dear Friends, As many of you may know, Mic Harper, band director, was instrumental (no pun intended!) in starting Rosendo's musical "career" way back in the 4th grade - little "recorders", flutes - at Michelson Elementary School. She then invited him to play on some drums at a small school performance, and that was the real beginning. Rosendo had a natural musical talent - the Rojas bloodline, not mine! - and Mic helped to nurture and encourage that. When he was in sixth grade up at Avery Middle School, she asked him to start participating in what was then the Calaveras County Community Band, and he attended Monday evening rehearsals and performances as often as he could. He joined the Avery Band, which was a class taught by Mic, and went on to attend music and band classes at Bret Harte High School under the direction of Dave Allured for four years...
