WWll Veteran & Much More, Glenwood (Glen) Lorin Jordan 1923 - 2016

White Pines, CA...Glenwood (Glen) Lorin Jordan, 92, of White Pines, California, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on January 13, 2016. He was born May 11, 1923, to parents Andrew F. and Kate (Reister) Jordan of Melones, CA. Glen was a fourth generation resident of Calaveras County. During his teenage years, Glen worked in his father’s butcher shops located in Altaville, Angels Camp, and Arnold. In 1942, he joined the US Army and fought in both France and Germany during WWII as part of the 13th Armored Division. After completion of his honorable service in the military, Glen returned to Calaveras County where he met and married the love of his life, Annabelle James, in 1949. Glen worked for Blagen Lumber Company and then went on to work for the California Department of Forestry, where he was employed until his retirement in 1982.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People!!!! A crisp clear morning is on order today with the current temp of 22F @ 5am and light winds out of the South from 8-11mph. We picked up 3"+ yesterday during the day before that system made it's way East. Today we'll see a chance of snow during the day and tonight we expect 3-5" of new snowfall then unsettled snowy weather will be in effect over the MLK weekend and into next week. The El Nino anomaly is doing it's work so far this season and we're stoked!!!! All aspect of the Mtn are operational and the grooming is awesome, coupled with abundant off-piste skiing and riding. Come on up and experience our "Pure Mtn Fun" attitude along side the best drive to any resort via all weather Hwy 4..

Main St./Hwy 49, open Thurs/Fri, 10am–5pm, and Saturday, 11am–5pm. Holly is a guest cat from Calaveras Animal Services and will be available to meet you in Angels Camp this week, along with several other fabulous felines. Our Arnold Adoption Center will be CLOSED this week, so Angels Camp is the place to be if you'd like to meet some kitties!

Arnold, CA...The National Weather Service Forecast For The West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada is: Today: Snow and heavy rain in the morning...then rain and snow showers in the afternoon. Breezy. Highs 29 to 41 higher elevations...38 to 46 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...6 to 11 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5000 feet. Prevailing south winds 10 to 25 mph with gusts to around 40 mph...except southwest 25 to 40 mph over ridges. Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Rain and snow showers in the evening... Then a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 16 to 31 higher elevations...28 to 36 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...1 to 3 inches higher elevations. Snow level 5000 feet decreasing to 4000 feet after midnight. Prevailing south winds up to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. Over ridges...prevailing southwest winds 20 to 30 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph after midnight.
