Full Containment of Ramsey Fire Expected Tonight. Thank You Fire Fighters!! Great Photo by Megan Fernsten |
Posted by: John_Hamilton on 08/23/2012 01:47 PM
|
Ganns Meadow, CA...Demobilization has been underway for several days and there are only 75 personnel left on the fire as of today. Fire crews are mainly involved with patrolling established fire lines and mopping-up hot spots remaining in the interior of the fire. A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team will be assigned to the incident to assess the fire area for needed rehabilitation. Burned area rehabilitation means to repair or improve lands damaged by the fire that are unlikely to recover on their own. The extent of repair will vary depending upon intended use of the forest after the fire. BAER Teams are intended to reduce further damage to land being temporarily exposed while in a fragile condition.yelllow jacket stings continue to be an issue for response personnel....
"We had an amazing opportunity tonight to visit with and personally thank the firefighters from Pennsylvania Team 6 who have been tirelessly working on controlling the Ramsey Fire and protecting the homes in Gann's Meadow since August 13th. This picture was taken on August 21st around 7:00pm as the team prepared to head back to base camp for the night. We are honored and deeply touched by their colossal and herculean efforts. We are wishing Pennsylvania Teams 6 & 7 a safe journey home to family and loved ones who are eagerly awaiting your return !!" Megan Fernsten |

Fishing Report Highway 4 Corridor for August 20, 2012~by Bill Reynolds of Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods |
Posted by: Kim_Hamilton on 08/21/2012 09:10 AM
|
Arnold, CA...Highway 4 is open again. It had been closed due to a wildfire. Thanks to all of our fire fighters for the job they did on this fire. They put their life on the line for us every time they go out. We appreciate what they do. The fishing on the highway 4 corridor has been excellent. Make sure to be fire safe at this time of year as it is very dry out in the woods. You must obtain a fire permit for your campsite if you are not using an improved campsite. Make sure you purchase your license before heading up here as we are the only store to sell licenses from Arnold up as we do experience problems with our machine occasionally. ...
