Overturning ATV Injures Richmond Man On USFS Road |

Camp Connell, CA...On May 27th, 2017, at approximately 0600 hours, CHP was notified of a solo ATV accident that happened in the Stanislaus National Forest above the Camp Connell area. The injured party had been transported, by friends, to the Murphys area, due to cell-phone coverage, and was being transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center. CHP responded to the hospital and contacted Mr. Sanchez who was later determined to be the passenger in this collision. Murphys, CA...Calaveras Door of Hope is hosting a Fun Run and Family Day on May 27, 2017. The Heroes Fun Run will be located at Ironstone Vineyards’ Amphitheatre. The Heroes Fun Run offers three options to participate in: a 5k run, 10k run, or a 2 mile walk. There will also be a party in the park with: Live music by Dyemusica, silent auction, raffle prizes, games and activities for kids of all ages. Food will be available for purchase on the grounds. Families are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs, blankets and enjoy the day. No outside food or drinks, please. Family Fun Day hours are from 9 AM – 2 PM. Admission is free. The 5k/10k run will start at 8:30 a.m. (registration at 7:45 a.m.); The 2 mile walk will start at 10:00 a.m. (registration at 9:00 a.m.).

Ebbetts & Sonora Passes to Remain Closed an Additional 3 to 5 Weeks |

Bear Valley, CA... The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has announced that Ebbetts Pass/State Route 4 (SR-4) and Sonora Pass/SR-108 will not open for Memorial Day weekend. While Caltrans always strives to have these mountain passes open by the holiday weekend, the impact from one of California’s wildest winters in decades is requiring a massive cleanup. SR-108 SnowCaltrans is anticipating that Ebbetts Pass and Sonora Pass will both be open within three to five weeks. Currently, eastbound travelers on Ebbetts Pass can go to the east end of Lake Alpine, while eastbound travelers on Sonora Pass can go as far as Kennedy Meadows.
