Undersheriff Mike Walker Takes the Gold |

Angels Camp, CA...The Chamber of Commerce's Gold Nugget raffle winner was drawn on Saturday Night at the Cowboy celebration. Even though tickets were purchased by people from throughout Northern California the Nugget will stay close to home. Undersheriff Michael Walker emerged victorious. He did say that it was his wife that purchased the ticket. He and presumably his wife are now the proud owners of the 4 1/2 ounce nugget that even has definite frog like tendencies in it's appearance...

Auditions Have Been Extended to One More Day...Saturday September 5th! |

Due to the soccer opening day last Sat., the Calaveras Children's Repertory Theatre is holding one more audition for "Wizard of Oz". Saturday Sept. 5 from 9am to 11am at Mark Twain Elementary School. No experience is required, and there is no charge. Every child from 5 to 18 years who auditions will get a part. For more information call 736-4616.

Vintage Cars Thrill Senior Residents at Bypass Ribbon Cutting! |

Angels Camp, CA....Foothill Village residents were some of the first county citizens to arrive at the historic ribbon cutting for the new HWY 4 Bypass. After many thanks and introductions were made, a classic car club proceeded over the new Bypass followed buy a roar of cheers. Many Foothill Villagers recognized the horseless carriages in the procession from days gone. Some of the vintage cars had been an important part of their lives and vivid memories of bouncing in a rumble seat put many smiles on the senior citizen’s faces.

Angels Camp – The Department of Transportation, the Calaveras Council of Governments and the City of Angels hosted the Angels Camp Expressway Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, July 22, 2009. The $61.5 million expressway opened to traffic nine months ahead of schedule.....
