Angels Camp, CA...“A One, And A Two, And A One-Two-Three-Four…”. It’s time to don your dance duds and step out for a swingin’ good time at the Spring Swing, a brand new event presented by the Calaveras Mentoring Foundation to raise funds for the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program. Spring Swing will take place Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys and will feature dinner and dancing to the Big Band sounds of Rod Harris and the Columbia Kicks in a fun-filled evening with a live auction, a treasure chest key raffle, a live 'jukebox' and a contemporary twist on "dime-a-dance" girls....

Donation to Calaveras Community Foundation

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) recently received a $1,250 donation from Umpqua Bank. A loyal supporter of CCF’s causes, this donation brings monies received since 2010 from Umpqua Bank to nearly $6,250.

The mission of Public, Education, and Government (PEG) Access Television in Calaveras County is to provide the people in the County with fair and reasonable access to cable television channel(s). The goals for PEG Access Television are to promote free speech, foster diverse points of view, encourage communications, create opportunities, encourage artistic expression, expand educational access, and promote participatory democracy in order to strengthen the spirit of the communities and enrich the lives of our residents and visitors...

Angels Camp, CA...Christina Marie Effken, August 29, 1956 to January 25, 2014. Born in Liverpool England moved to Claifornia at an early age. Graduated from Washington High School in Fremont, Ca. In her early twenties Christina worked for the California Conservation Corps where she met and later married Robert Cox, to become the mother of Sean and Elliott Cox. Christina was a long time employee of Bear Valley mountain resort where she befriended many people of the area. Christina always enjoyed the outdoors and was a self proclaimed “Amateur Geologist”. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and always tried to keep a positive attitude about life...

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras Public Health Services has received confirmation of two influenza-related deaths of Calaveras County residents this flu season. “The residents were both under 65 years of age and were reported to the Department today,” stated Dr. Dean Kelaita, County Health Officer. “Both residents had been hospitalized out of county.” “One of the deaths was confirmed as the H1N1 flu strain,” continued Dr. Kelaita...

Frogtown, USA....The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee will hit the jackpot at a Poker Tournament set for Feb. 22 at Jackson Rancheria Casino. The Friends of the Fair are sponsoring the event, the latest in its ongoing series of events benefitting the fair. Snow accumulation 2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 to 7500 feet. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph...except southwest 15 to 30 mph over ridges. Tonight: At lower elevations...rain in the evening...then rain showers after midnight. At higher elevations...rain and snow in the evening...then rain and snow showers after midnight. Lows 26 to 41 higher elevations...38 to 47 lower elevations. Snow accumulation up to 2 inches higher elevations. Snow level 7000 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 15 mph. Monday: Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations...a chance of rain showers in the morning...then a slight chance of rain showers in the afternoon. At higher elevations...a chance of rain and snow showers. Not as cool. Highs 36 to 51 higher elevations...48 to 56 lower elevations. Snow level 6500 feet. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph shifting to the west in the afternoon....
