Angels Camp, CA...Drunk and drugged driving remains the number one killer on our roadways, with 802 DUI deaths and nearly 24,000 Alcohol Involved Injuries reported statewide. The “Avoid the 2” DUI Task Force will be combating this deadly problem through DUI enforcement efforts in Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties. The Angels Camp Police Department will be administering a recent $119,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety for the cities of Angels Camp and Sonora. ..

Bob Fienberg and three other Sheriff Volunteers in addition to the Sheriff Senior Dispatch K Johnson assisted the Angels Camp Police Department in providing security and traffic control for the Gold Rush Day celebration last Saturday in Angels Camp. The weather was perfect and a large crowd enjoyed this once a year public event.

Angels Camp, CA...I would like to express why I am supporting Hugh Swift for Superior Court Judge Dept. 2. When I was first told that Judge Swift had been appointed by Gov. Brown I knew as a life long republican that I would never support Judge Swift due to his appointment. I was challenged by a friend to come listen to Judge Swift and hear about the process he went through for the appointment. I walked away knowing that Judge Swift will be fair and impartial as he sits on the bench but will not be swayed by politics in his rulings. The truth is I am so fed up with both political parties that I just want to scream....

New Melones, CA...Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 523,656 acre-feet of water. The lake level came up just inches this week and is currently at 862 ft. above sea level and 214 ft. from full. The water is starting to clear up due to stable and rising water. The average water temperature is 72-76 degrees. Tuttletown launch is closed. Glory Hole Point boat launch is the road leading off the end of the point. It is a dirt launch without courtesy docks and 4wd is recommended....
