The 2014 Frog Jump Youth Parade Was A Whole Herd Of Fun |

Angels Camp, CA...The 2014 Frog Jump Youth Parade "Fun For the Whole Herd" rolled, walked, danced and hooved it through Historic Angels Camp yesterday. . The Soroptimists did a great job on this parade as they have for decades and it gets Frog Jump Weekend off and running on the right foot. We usually try to take a look at audience make up at events like this to see how many of the attendees were locals and how many might be our guests to the area. This years event definitely had a higher percentage of visitors than in some past years. Mark Twain Medical Center's Nicki Stevens was this year's well deserved Grand Marshall. She through her efforts in her position and also in her personal life aids community groups and is a driving force in many community efforts. We have two batches of photos for you. Andy Johnson just posted some beautiful shots that show the emotion and fun of the event. In the ones below we have over 250 that take a bit of a wider angle to hopefully provide an overview of the event with multiple shots of every entry. Enjoy! Tis a special time in Frog Jump Land!!

Angels Camp, CA (Frogtown, USA)....The 2014 The 2014 Fair & Frog Jumping Jubilee Is Underway! With "Fun For The Whole Herd" is open and ready for your visits. The 4H & FFA Shows get underway this morning. The Parade is at 10am downtown and the Carnival opens at 11am. The Calaveras Saddle Queen competition is at 2pm and the 75th Annual Miss Calaveras Pageant starts at 8pm on the Main Stage. The full schedule is below...

CCWD Awards Their 2014 Scholarships |

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras High School senior Kelly Airola and Bret Harte High School senior James Sommer hold $500 scholarships awarded to them by the Calaveras County Water District at a board meeting Wednesday, May 14. Their essays about water were selected from about 30 entries. Airola plans to attend California Baptist University, where she will study engineering. Sommer will attend University of California, Davis, and study biology. Joining the students are four members of the CCWD board. From left, Bob Dean, Jeff Davidson, Dennis Dooley and Don Stump. The Calaveras Partnership Supervisor Candidates Night |

Angels Camp, CA...On Monday night the "Calaveras Partnership" held a Candidates's Night at the Bret Harte Theatre. It was billed as an evening of political education featureing Board of Supervisors Candidates for Districts 3 & 5. On fun segment that separated this event format wise from some of the others was the "Lightning Round" where the candidates could only answer Yes or No to questions. The Calaveras Partnership is comprised of The Arc of Amador & Calaveras, Carpenter's Union, Community Action Project Calaveras Planning Coalition, Foothill Conservancy, Habitat for Humanity, Operating Engineers Local 3, SEIU Local 1021, Slow Food Calaveras, Calaveras Grown and Calaveras Unified Educators Association. The event was hosted by Joel Metzger & moderated by Bob Enyeart...

Calaveras Arts Council Announces Summer Filled Fun |

The Calaveras Arts Council announces lots of fun this summer both in their new Gallery Store and in the local parks throughout the county. The free Wednesday evening summer series, Music in the Parks, begins on June 11 in Copperopolis and ends ten weeks later in Murphys on August 13. To help pay for these performances, the arts council is launching its membership drive to sign up new members and to re-sign existing members. Individual membership is $35 and Family membership is $50. Membership is from July 1 to June 30. Membership gives you that special feeling for supporting the arts as well as discounts at event ticket sales and Gallery Store purchases. The big August 2 fundraiser in Sheep Ranch, Cajun Fete Dinner and Dance Party, tickets for members is $65/each; for non-members they are $75/each. Enjoy the savings by becoming a member...
