Angels Camp, CA...Leonard T. Baxter, born November 16, 1939, passed away November 7, 2011 at his residence in Angels Camp, CA. Before retiring Leonard was a bank manager for 25 years. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Baxter of Angels Camp, CA, and his sister Mary (Robert) McFetridge of Lake Forest, CA. Leonard was preceded in death by his daughter Jodi Anne Baxter in 1982....

Angels Camp, CA...The beautiful Angels 6 Theatre has the movie "Courageous" as their independent film this week. It is an inspiring, sobering look at fatherhood and what it means to be a Dad and husband in today's world. It might make a few of us wince when we look in the mirror. But it may be what we need. Most of the men reading this know we can be more than what we are. It is a call to arms to take your fatherhood to another level. It will be playing tomorrow night as well at 7pm. Don't miss it...

Angels Camp – November 8, 2011 – The Calaveras 4 Teen Center group presented a framed certificate of appreciation to the Calaveras Community Foundation during its Nov. 3 meeting for the $4,000 grant that was awarded to them. The spirited grassroots volunteer group is busy making plans to create a youth center for the Highway 4 corridor from Arnold to Copperopolis based within walking distance of Bret Harte High School....

Frogtown, CA....Mark Twain Hall was festooned for the Holidays yesterday for the annual Teddy Bear Tea that is one of the high points of Holiday Season for our area's Grandmothers, Mothers and Daughters. Most were dressed in their holiday best to celebrate. The lucky quests were entertained by Santa, Jugglers, Face Painters, Krinkles the Clown and the even Ballet from the Studio 4 School of Dance.
Angels Camp, CA...Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,942,104 acre-feet of water. The lake level did not fluctuate much this week and is currently at 1047 ft. above sea level and 41 ft. from full. Levels will continue to drop, as room needs to be made to accommodate upcoming winter rains. Water temperature is really dropping now, and is currently 60-63 degrees. The lake will "turn over" when surface water cools to the same temp as the deeper water- around 53-54 degrees. This usually happens around Thanksgiving, and then the trout bite really turns on for bank-anglers and trollers alike....
