Memorial Webcast for Alex & Macaila

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 02/09/2013 10:45 AM
Angels Camp, CA...The service is scheduled to start at 11am. The replay and photos are up now. We will be scanning the program from yesterday and adding it later today. That way most of the pieces of this incredibly sad story will be in one spot for those who wish to revisit the service at a later date. It has been an honour to witness our community's actions this week in face of such sorrow. Small Town America is alive and well and very, very special. We will leave the service at the top of the site for few more hours and then it's time to let Alex & Macaila's story slowly slide down into history. If you ever need to revisit this just type "Alex Macaila Memorial" into the search field after clicking the search button on our menu.

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/10/2013 11:17 PM
Sonora, CA...The next meeting of the CSEDD Board is this Thursday and the agenda is enclosed. A bit about CSEDD from their website: In 1976, the Central Sierra Economic Development District (CSEDD) was formed as a Joint Powers Authority (JPA), and established as an EDA‐recognized economic development district. The original member entities included Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, and Tuolumne counties and the seven cities of Sonora, Angels Camp, and the five Amador cities of Jackson, Sutter Creek, Amador City, Ione, and Plymouth. Mariposa County was ratified into the District in November 2011...

Kindness Week in Calaveras County, February 11 -17, 2013.

Posted by: John_Hamilton on 02/10/2013 11:28 PM
Calaveras County, CA...The idea is simple: When we make a conscious effort to perform a kind act, ripples of kindness flow forth. The grassroots effort to promote random acts of kindness firmly took hold in 1995 when the Angels Camp City Council issued a proclamation and The City of Angels became the first designated "Kindness Zone" in the United States. Since then, the ripples of kindness have continued to spread and now wash over all Calaveras County Schools in a celebration of kindness each February. Join us!

To learn more about random acts of kindness activities visit the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation website at www.actsofkindness.org....

Posted by: thepinetree on 02/07/2013 06:06 PM
Angels Camp, CA...The official Visit California 2013 California Vacation Guide is now available online and will be available on newsstands in April. But why does that matter to us folks here in Calaveras County? The annual California Vacation Guide and the CVB’s ongoing marketing partnership with Visit California are among the most powerful destination marketing tools Calaveras County has to attract tourists to the area (which is why we’ve advertised with them for years). Through extensive national and international ad campaigns and media outreach, Visit California serves as our voice to a broader market. With their help, other regional marketing partnerships like our involvement in the Gold Country Visitors Association (GCVA), the High Sierra Visitors Council (HSVC), and our own outreach and promotional efforts, Calaveras County sees more than 1 million visitors annually and over $150 million in traveler spending...
