Angels Camp, CA...The local High School Baseball season has just rounded third and is heading for home. Bret Harte just dropped two games to Summerville which moves them to 1/2 game back of now league leading Linden. who they face at home tomorrow. Summerville is a game back, followed by Calaveras, Argonaut & Amador. If you are in Angels tomorrow stop by the field and cheer...

Angels Camp, CA...The Angels Camp museum held another great Miners Picnic last Saturday. Visitors stepped back in time to the 1800's as the Museum's grounds were filled with reincarnations from times past, Miners, Trappers & even Mark Twain himself. Behind the festivities is what has become one of the best museums in the Mother Lode. The museum has building after building filled with artifacts from California's history. One of the center pieces of the day was the Frog Jump Committee on hand with frogs that were ready to jump and build the enthusiasm for the International Frog Jump coming soon. So the next time...

Locals Compete in WRBRA event |

Frogtown, CA....Fairgoers will have a chance to see one of their own compete in the WRBRA bullriding event at the 2010 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. Scheduled for Friday May 14 as part of the Arena events, riders will range from age 3 on sheep to Pro Am competitors on bulls. One of the riders will be 4th grader Tristan Barr of Mountain Ranch California. Tristan rode his first mutton at the Reno Rodeo in 2005. As soon as he was done he asked his dad if he could do it again. He has worked his way through the ranks and rides junior steers. He has qualified again this year and will be traveling to Fort Worth in August to compete in the junior steer division.

Angels Camp, CA...One figure that looms large in the history and mystique of the the Mother Lode is Samuel Langhorne Clemens. The name of Mark Twain is synonymous with much of the romance and lore that is mixed into the history of our area. We even owe all things Frog related to our story telling friend from the Missouri. We had the pleasure of attending a sneak preview showing of a great new exhibit that is now open at the Angels Camp Museum....
