Mark Twain Medical Center Awards $26,000 in Community Grants to Non Profit Organizations |

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday Mark Twain Medical Center continued their tradition of helping in the community. They held their Annual Awards Luncheon at the hospital where the 6 organizations were chosen to receive grants from a total of 19 who applied. The awardees are: Arc of Amador and Calaveras – (provides support and services to persons with developmental disabilities to encourage mainstream life, work, learning and recreation). Disability Resource Agency for Independent (supports the independence of individuals with disabilities through resources, advocacy and services). Ebbetts Pass Firefighters Association (CPR classes and AED education for community). San Andreas Community Covenant Church (to provide free community meals every Wednesday). Resource Connection - Food Bank (serves 2,523 families-accounting for 17% of the population of Calaveras County). The Volunteer Center (mileage reimbursement to volunteers that provide transportation to vulnerable citizens)...

Vallecito, CA...Evelyn Faye Wilson, Sr . passed away on Monday, January 7, 2014. She was 80 years old. Evelyn was born Evelyn Geto , August 4, 1933, one of twelve children born to Laura Jeff and Pete Geto, on the Six Mile Rancheria of Miwuk Indians, near Vallecito, California and married Lawrence Wilson Sr in1950. Evelyn took care of many of her nieces and nephews from a young age, and continued to have a close relationship with them throughout her life.
