Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce Mixer at Mark Twain Orthopedic Care |

Angels Camp, CA...On Thursday, January 16th the Mark Twain Medical Center Orthopedic Specialty Care office in Angels Camp was packed. The Chamber Mixer was hosted by Doctors Craig Lovett and Doctor Elisabeth Siegler and staff. The mixers and mingle'ers enjoyed Calaveras County wine and some great appetizers. Mark Twain Medical Center under Hospital President Craig Marks' leadership has been very aggressive in recruiting and retaining high quality health care providers. They have also had an increased focus on specialty care and making sure patients can receive care close to home. Pictures of the revelry are below....

Sacramento, CA...In his 2014-15 State Budget released last week, Governor Brown proposed the complete elimination of funding for the Agricultural Education Incentive Grant, which supports high quality Agricultural Education standards in our public schools. This grant program is designed to provide matching funds for districts who commit to meeting state-approved program standards in Ag Education, including classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experience projects, and leadership training through the Future Farmers of America (FFA) student organization....

Local Woman Donates Body Armor for Local K9 Unit |

Angels Camp, CA...At the start of the Angels Camp City Council meeting the City and Angels Camp Police Department honored Janine Fout in appreciation for her generous donation to the K-9 unit. She donated over $3,000 which was paid directly to the manufacture for custom fitted body armor for the K9's. The armor will protect the animals from bullet and puncture wounds. Todd Fordahl, Police Chief and Steve Poortinga, Sergeant and their service dogs in their new protective vests are below...

Case Refereed to DA's Office for Possible Charges in Vallecito Shooting Incident...Corrected |

| Vallecito, CA...Yesterday we reported on a shooting incident in Vallecito that drew a large law enforcement presence. The good news is that there were no injuries. The following is a statement from Calaveras County Sheriff's Sergeant Chris Hewitt. "After a considerable amount of manpower, we did take the alleged suspect into custody. We had the “victim”, an employee with Trees, Inc., a subcontractor for PGE, attempt to conduct an in-field identification of the guy we had in custody. The “Victim” was not able to ID the man as the person who shot at him, so we had no choice but to release the “suspect” without charges. The case was refereed to the Calaveras County DA's office for investigation and possible charges." |
