Angels Camp, CA....Bret Harte offered their 17th annual Boys Basketball clinic, one of the premier camps in Calaveras County. The students had personalized instruction by Mr. Rucker who has many years of coaching experience. Team members from the Bret Harte Basketball team also assisted Rucker during the four day clinic. Mark Twain St. Josephs To Host Summer Health Career Camp

San Andreas, CA: Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital has announced they will be hosting a Summer Health Career Camp June 23rd to 27th at the hospital campus in San Andreas. The Camp is open to a maximum of twenty high school juniors and seniors who have a desire to gain more knowledge about careers in health care. The free week-long project includes a complete orientation and tour of the facility, three days of “job shadowing” with hospital staff, networking with hospital staff and leadership at special luncheons, CPR Certification class instruction and a special student/parent graduation luncheon on Friday...

Free High School Girls Golf Clinics Being Offered at Sequoia Woods Country Club

Arnold, CA....The Sequoia Woods Women's Golf Club and Bret Harte High School Girl's Golf Club is Co-Hosting Free Girl's High School Golf Clinics. "For High School Sports-Girls. Interested girl's entering High School, especially incoming Freshman are encouraged to attend. Even if you are not planning to try out for the golf team, even if you are playing another sport. The first Clinic will be held Wednesday, June 25th at 11am at Sequoia Woods Country Club in Arnold. The reason for these Clinics is to provide greater accessibility to the game of golf for girls. Our Community Stepped Up to Bat for Matt! Video and Pictures Enclosed

Arnold, CA.....Our community stepped up to bat for Matt on Sunday June 8th. The Day started with a Poker Run in Farmington ending in Arnold. At the same time, many friends and family got together and walked, strolled and even ran a 5k to show their support for Matthew McCullough and his family. After this everyone met at the Cedar Center for a BBQ, Silent auctions with lovely items donated by many local people and businesses, snacks, live music, a dunk tank and more. Matthew was busy playing with his many friends when we stopped by. He looked very good and quite happy. The Cedar Center in Arnold was packed with people showing their support for this lovely boy and his family.....

Calaveras County, CA....We would like to welcome one of our newest Columnists, "ThePineTree Pedaler", Brett Loring. Brett road the 100 mile Sierra Century today and here is what he has to say about his Grand Adventure....."The roads of Calaveras County for the second year in a row were home – for at least 10 hours - to the Sacramento Wheelmen's coveted biking event, The Sierra Century. A total of 607 road bikers braved the warm June 7 sun and the bumpy back roads and steep grades like Highway 26 to West Point, Jesus Maria into Mountain Ranch, and Dogtown en route back to the Ironstone Vineyard finish line. Three hundred seventy five of the riders participated in the 100-kilometer route, while the rest rode the nearly 100-mile course. Many riders on the 100-mile course finished in under 8 hours......

First, thank you to the intrepid residents of Millwoods who came out on May 24th to walk in the rain for an hour to study where the Arnold Rim Trail could eventually be potentially accessed from near your homeowners association if you so choose. The rain could not put a damper on the spirits of those who participated or on the beauty of the forest......

2nd Annual Golf Tournament to Benefit Bear Valley EMS on June 13th

Bear Valley, CA....The 2nd Annual Golf Tournament to benefit Bear Valley EMS, a 501(c)(3) organization is coming up at Forest Meadows Golf Resort. The big day is June 13th. The cost is $100 per player. That includes lunch, 18 holes of golf with a cart, and a tri-tip dinner and awards ceremony following the tournament. Also, hole sponsorship is $100 - this gives sponsors an 18"x24" sign at the tee box. Signs are put up before the tournament and left up for several days afterward. All proceeds this year will be going to Bear Valley EMS. Check in time is 12 noon, with a shot gun start at 1pm.....

San Andreas, CA...The Parkinsons Disease and neurological support group, "San Andreas Movers & Shakers...it's not OUR fault!" will meet on Tuesday, June 3rd at the Calaveras Senior Center, 956 Mountain Ranch Road, from 10:00 am - 12:00 noon. The program will include a presentation of art created by group member Cindy Deluz, who works in watercolors and acryllic paints, collages, photography and makes hand-crafted jewelry. Cindy's photography is on display at The Parkinsons Institute in Sunnyvale, California and her many delightful, joyful creations can be found on her website www.apurpledaisy.com....
