Calaveras Community Foundation Announces Annual Competitive Grants Period for 2019

San Andreas, CA...Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) continues to focus on initiatives for 2019’s grant giving. The three initiatives are: Seniors, Youth, and Community Enrichment. Funding for these grants is from the Foundation’s General Grant Fund. Arnold, CA...Ebbetts Pass Fire District Needs Your Help Deciding Their Future. December 11th at 6pm, Independence Hall in White Pines. EPFD is funded, in part, by two special taxes that enable us to provide top notch FIRE and EMS services. The first special tax was voted on and passed in 1998. This provided additional staffing as a paramedic within the District 24/7/365. The second was voter approved in 2004. Which funded extra staffing and one full-time, paramedic staffed ambulances and a second full-time staffed fire station.

Economy Added 155,000 Jobs in November According to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

Washington, DC...Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 155,000 in November, and the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.7 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job gains occurred in health care, in manufacturing, and in transportation and warehousing.

CCWD Board Approves Customer Assistance Program

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Directors approved a Customer Assistance Program on Wednesday December 5. The program is limited to 200 water customers and 200 sewer customers, and applications for the program will not be available or accepted by CCWD until Wednesday January 2, 2019. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis.

San Andreas, CA...One of the first items read out of closed session as this meeting got underway the Supervisors named Manuel Lopez, as Interim Calaveras County Administrative Officer with the impending departure of Current CAO Tim Lutz. Mr. Lopez had served previously as interim CAO prior to Mr. Lutz's appointment. He should be able to hit the ground running...
