Real Gross Domestic Product Rate Revised Down To 1.2%

Washington, DC...Real gross domestic product increased at an annual rate of 1.2 percent in the second quarter of 2016 (table 1), according to the "advance" estimate released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis. In the first quarter, real GDP increased 0.8 percent (revised). The Bureau emphasized that the second-quarter advance estimate released today is based on source data that are incomplete or subject to further revision by the source agency (see “Source Data for the Advance Estimate” on page 2). The "second" estimate for the second quarter, based on more complete data, will be released on August 26, 2016...

Kearney Recall Election To Move Forward & Filing Period Starts Today

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Clerk Recorder and Registrar of Voters has issued an order to hold the recall election for the purpose of determining whether County Supervisor District 5, Steven Kearney is to be recalled and to fill the vacancy if the member is recalled; pursuant to Elections Code Section 11241 which states: “If the governing board fails to issue the order within the time specified in section 11240, the county elections official, within five days shall set the date for holding the election.” The proclamation and notice of election is attached. The filing period opens today July 27, 2016 and closes August 25, 2016, this closing filing period applies to candidates filing for the Supervisor District 5 contest only.

Calaveras Sheriff's Department Promotes Four & Hires Eight! Photos & Full Ceremony Video

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday morning the meeting room at the Sheriff's Dept headquarters was filled to overflowing with friends family and well wishers as the Calaveras Sheriff's Department held a swearing in ceremony for eight new hires and promoted four. The new hires are Corrections Officer Katrina Large, Corrections Officer Jason Crawford, Dispatcher Samantha King, Business Administrator Maria Hinsey, Deputy Erik Schrantz, Deputy Lance Williams, Deputy Brian Terry, Deputy Talya-Ann Mattos. Congratulations to Sergeant Heather Gordon, Sergeant Kevin Stevens, Corporal DeAyrian Sanchez and Corporal Jim Moser on their promotions.

Calaveras Board of Supervisor Back In Action Today

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors is back in action starting at 9am today. Some of the agenda items are: Receive a Report from the Board Chair, Department Heads, CalOES and FEMA Update on Butte Fire Recovery. Approve Changes to Position Control List for positions related to the Medical Cannabis Cultivation Registration Program. Authorize the Board Chair to execute a Professional Services Agreement between Calaveras County and Phillips & Jordan, Inc., for Hazardous Tree Removal Services due to the Butte Fire Incident for an amount not to exceed $9,775,053.39 and a term ending August 31, 2017.

Murphys, CA...Calaveras County residents are invited to the opening of a new Saturday bus service at the inaugural Saturday Hopper ride on Saturday, July 23. The bus route will offer residents and visitors a worry free way to appreciate the various attractions and destinations from Valley Springs to Murphys. Opening festivities include ribbon cutting ceremonies at each stop on the first run of the day, including the 11:23 am stop at the Visitor Center in Angels Camp with Mayor Wes Kulm. Riders are encouraged to join in the celebration.
