Frogtown, USA...The 2016 Miss Calaveras Is....Makayla Ruthrauff and her court is Sierra Stackpole & Brighton Hamari. Miss Ruthrauff follows in the royal footsteps of her mother and sister. The Miss Calaveras competition for 2016 was a great show and great group of young ladies. Taking the stage for Miss Calaveras were Macy Breaux (Bret Harte), Hailey Long (Calaveras), Brighton Hamari (Bret Harte), Emma Hampton (Calaveras), Makayla Ruthrauff (Calaveras), and Sierra Stackpole (Calaveras). Shingle Springs, CA...Cal.net, Inc, an Internet Service Provider (“ISP”) based in Shingle Springs, CA, today announces that it has merged with Hstar Technology Group, Inc., an ISP based in Angels Camp, CA. By adding about 300 square miles of service area in Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties, this merger expands the Cal.net geographic coverage territory to approximately 2,300 square miles in total. Consequently, Cal.net is now able to deliver seamless high-quality broadband Internet services to most of the rural communities of the Sierra Nevada foothills from the northeast to the southeast of Sacramento. The combined entities will operate under the Cal.net name, now making Cal.net one of the largest privately-owned fixed-wireless ISPs in northern California.

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Humane Society announces the closure of its Angels Camp Thrift Store. The closure is scheduled for August 15th. Donations will be gladly accepted through July 16th. The store will continue to offer specials and a premium selection of gently used items until the store closes August 15th. As we progress toward our capital campaign to build a new shelter for county animals we realized the need to reorganize resources.

We continue celebrate our unique little town with an annual Homecoming Pancake Breakfast and want to invite everyone who loves small town charm to join us. Copperopolis’ Homecoming was started by our founding families for an annual get together. Now everyone is welcome to our pancake breakfast celebration fitting a town that saw Black Bart’s first and last stage coach robbery, hosted Mark Twain at a town social, and was the location of America’s second richest copper mines.

Copperopolis, CA...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Calaveras County Taxpayers Association and the Angels Camp Business Association organized a Candidates Night for District 4. The venue was beautiful Saddle Creek. During this event candidates Sherri Smith, Dennis Mills and Ann Radford were given the opportunity to speak on their vision for the county and answered a series of business related questions. The subjects ranged from how to handle the marijuana issue to economic development and business retention and support.

San Aandreas, CA….Sheriff Rick DiBasilio was officially sworn in today in front of the Sherriff's headquarters building. Sheriff DiBasilio had a large group of family, friends, Sheriffs from neighboring counties, CHP Commander, Angels Camp Police Chief and a large law enforcement, dignitaries and elected officials were on hand as he was elevated to the top law enforcement position in the county.

Angels Camp, CA...(Frogtown, USA)...The Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce its May Mixer will once again be hosted by the Calaveras County Fairground as a “Kick Off to the Fair”. This mixer will be on May 12th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds Ranch House located at 2465 Gun Club Rd. in Angels Camp. The Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee is one of the largest events in the county, dating back to the late 1800s. Each year the fair is attended by thousands of people, both local and out of the area.
