Stanislaus National Forest Urges Hunters to be Fire Safe During Hunting Season

Sonora, CA...Hunting season begins in Tuolumne and Mariposa counties on Sept. 16 and in Calaveras County on Sept. 23, and Forest officials urge hunters to plan for fire safety. “Stanislaus National Forest is experiencing frequent lightning storms, which increase the potential of fire activity,” said Scott Tangenberg, acting Forest Supervisor. “We want hunters to not only know where current fires are burning, but also to know what to do if they find themselves in a fire situation.”

Becerra Leads DACA Lawsuit Against Trump Administration

Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, joined by the attorneys general for Minnesota, Maryland and Maine, filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over its decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals initiative (DACA). The four States filed the suit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California arguing that the Trump Administration violated the Constitution and federal laws when it rescinded DACA.

University of California Sues Trump Administration on Repeal of DACA Program

Oakland, CA...The University of California today (Sept. 8) filed suit in federal court against the Trump administration for wrongly and unconstitutionally violating the rights of the University and its students by rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program on “nothing more than unreasoned executive whim.”

Washington, DC...We evaluated the Bureau of Reclamation’s (USBR’s) financial assistance agreements for the State of California’s Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP) to determine whether USBR fully disclosed to the U.S. Congress and other stakeholders the cost of its participation in BDCP efforts, whether USBR had legal authority to convert funds from reimbursable to nonreimbursable purposes, and whether USBR expended funds in accordance with its legal authority for its financial assistance agreements.
