Valley Springs, CA...The following letter has been sent to Calaveras County by Valley Springs Law Firm Chavez-Ochoa on behalf or their clients. Ms. DeKay, On April 29, 2020, Dr. Kelaita extended the shelter-in-place order, thereby, preventing many local businesses, and my clients, specifically, from opening their doors to customers. This has had a devastating financial effect on their ability to remain in business. The numbers and the science do not justify a continuing order whereby businesses in Calaveras County need to remain closed. Regardless of what the Calaveras County Health Officer believes to be in his personal best interest, it clearly is not in the best interest of the citizens of Calaveras County. Olympia, WA...From the Washington Department of AG..."Asian giant hornet (Vespa mandarinia) is the world's largest species of hornet. In December 2019, WSDA received and verified four reports of Asian giant hornet near Blaine and Bellingham. These are the first-ever sighting in the United States. Canada had also discovered Asian giant hornet in two locations in British Columbia in the fall of 2019.

Governor Newsom to Allow Many Retail Businesses to Open & Local Control Later This Week!

Sacramento, CA...Governor Newsom has announced that many retail businesses will be able to reopen later this week with social distancing policies in place. The state will also allow counties including many rural counties to go further in their reopening if they have track & trace in place for infection hotspots that will no doubt crop up.

Sacramento, CA...As the state continues implementation of the four-stage framework to allow Californians to gradually reopen some lower-risk businesses and public spaces while continuing to preserve public health, Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that based on the state’s progress in meeting metrics tied to indicators, the state can begin to move into Stage 2 of modifying the stay at home order this Friday, May 8, with guidelines released Thursday, May 7. The Governor released a Report Card showing how the state has made progress in fighting COVID-19 in a number of categories such as stabilized hospitalization and ICU numbers and acquiring PPE.
