Angels Camp, CA...The 2012 Fair is Officially Underway. The Soroptomists Childrens Parade is traditional start to the Frog Jump Season. It was a great Parade this morning that honored the Girls Scouts and their contributions over the last 100 years. There were floats, beauty queens, saddle queens, dancers, politicians, old cars, kids, kids and more kids. These are the raw photos and video will be up soon. We will be cropping and tuning for the final slide show but we thought might like a glimpse at this morning's festivities. Lets all head out to the fair and make this year the best yet!!

San Andreas, CA...The Assessors Office again hopped away from the field for bragging rights and qualification in the Frog Jump Finals. Tuesday's event had most of the county employees and many of the elected officials our cheering their Department's entries in the Frog Jump. Traditionally it is the last to be hired to have the honor of jumping for their departments and county's honor. We have photos and video of all the fun...

Frogtown, USA....Friends of the Fair in cooperation with the junior live stock committee are conducting the annual Pot o' Gold raffle. All proceeds benefit the Calaveras County Fair capital improvements program. Tickets are $25.00 each, or five for $100.00. Raffle drawings are held nightly during the fair. Thursday through Saturday raffles are held before the evenings main entertainment (see fair schedule)....

It earliest roots date back to 1893, held that year in Copperopolis, the fair eventually found a permanent home outside of Angels Camp. Frogtown, USA...The Mark Twain Hall was filled last night for the 2012 Calaveras County Fair & Frog Jump Jubilee Kick Off Awards Dinner. With the Capital Frog Jump yesterday and the Kick Off Dinner last night the 2012 Fair Season is now in high gear. Fair CEO Laurie Gianinni was given high marks for steering the fair through some very tricky times. Numerous other people were given awards as well for their contributions. The Calaveras County Fair is a special event who's history literally goes back to the Gold Rush. Every year Calavereas County gets is share of the national spotlight. Frogtown will be ready. The grounds are manicured and volunteers are working like mad to make sure this year's Fair and Frog Jump are the best yet....

SACRAMENTO – Senator Ted Gaines (R-Rocklin) today hosted the 38th Annual Capitol Frog Jump at the State Capitol. Elected officials, legislative staffers and media participated to see who could make their frog jump the farthest. “It was an honor to sponsor the 38th Annual Capitol Frog Jump in my second year representing Calaveras County in the 1st Senate District,” said Gaines. “The event is a staple in the Capitol community and a great way to get the word out about the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee taking place at the end of this month.”...

Frogtown, CA....The 2012 Wine Competition took place at the Fairgrounds last Friday, April 27 and the highlights of the winners are as follows: Best of Calaveras: La Folia 2011 Muscat Canelli, Angels Camp, Mineral 2009 Merlot, Angels Camp. Frogtown, USA...The last couple of weeks preparations for the 2012 Calaveras County Fair and Frog Jumping Jubilee have shifted into high gear. Community members and staff are scurrying about the grounds getting ready for the time every year when Angels Camp is on the national stage. Last week we stopped by and saw Ron Dwelley, Buck King and RJ Dwelley hard at work putting in new tanks for the Frogs to rest their legs in between heats. They told me that even tiny massage tables will be provided this year to give this years crop of Frogletes the best chance to jump past Rosie The Ribbitter's long standing World Record....
