Altercation at Red Brick Saloon Results in Serious Injuries |

(San Andreas, CA) On July 20, 2012 at approximately 11:30 PM Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Red Brick Saloon, San Andreas, for a report of a physical altercation with injuries. Upon arrival the deputies contacted the victim, Scott Anderson (47) of San Andreas. Mr. Anderson was the victim of an alleged unprovoked attack from Suspect Caleb Terry (23) of Valley Springs. According to statements obtained at the scene, Mr. Anderson was standing on the sidewalk outside the saloon when Suspect Terry abruptly threw a rock at Mr. Anderson from a short distance away, striking him in the face. Mr. Anderson suffered serious injuries to the lower portion of his face. He was transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital where he obtained treatment for his injuries, and was later released.... |

Railroad Flat, CA...On July 19, 2012 at approx. 2:40 PM, Calaveras Sheriff’s Deputies located and arrested Parolee Rylan Luckey (26) of Railroad Flat, at the Railroad Flat General Store. Parolee Luckey had an active arrest warrant (3056 of the Penal Code) for violating his state parole conditions.... |

Man Posing as Law Enforcement Pulls Over Woman |

Cold Springs, CA...On Thursday July 12th, a female was driving on Hwy 108 near Cold Springs in Tuolumne County. At approx. 7:00 am, a male subject in a vehicle resembling a law enforcement patrol car stopped her. The subject, who was wearing a tan shirt and pants and posing as a law enforcement officer, approached her and stated she was driving erratically. The subject was wearing a law enforcement type duty belt but did not appear to have a handgun. The subject detained the female for an extended period of time before allowing her to leave. ....

John C. Hyde, 50 of Jamestown So Sadly Lost his Life in Last Evenng's Motorcycle Accident |

Jamestown, CA...The CHP release is now in on the fatal accident we reported on last night. John C. Hyde, 50 of Jamestown sadly lost his life last evening when his 2000 Honda Motorcycle collided with a utility pole on Hwy 49 and Sims Road. Mr. Hyde was riding his motorcycle within the road closure approaching the intersection with Sims Road. As Mr. Hyde approached the traffic barricade, it appears he attempted to go around the left side of the barricade. The front tire and right front handlebar of the Honda hit the left side of the barricade. Mr. Hyde braked while veering off towards the west edge of the highway. Mr. Hyde struck a wood utility pole bordering the west side of the highway and was ejected...

This bill will allow convicted serial killer Wesley Shermantine a ‘get out of jail free’ card for up to three days for the purpose of permitting the inmate to participate in or assist with the gathering of evidence relating to crimes... |

Sonora Sees Alarming Increase in DUI Accidents and Arrests |

Sonora, CA...The Sonora Police Department has noticed an alarming increase in driving under the influence accidents and arrests during the first six months of 2012. Between Jan and June 2011, the Sonora Police Department only had 27 arrests for DUI. This year, during the same time period the Department has had 60 arrests. There has also been a 19% increase in DUI related accidents.... |

Calaveras County, CA...Calaveras County Sheriff Gary Kuntz and Sheriff Captain Jim Macedo have promoted Don Crouch to volunteer captain and Jim Aguilera to volunteer lieutenant. Under the new structure, Captain Crouch will administer the overall volunteer program and oversee coordination with the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department. In addition, he will monitor the Board of Directors, conduct background checks on potential volunteers, oversee the volunteer unit’s secretary, treasure and information officer....

Copperopolis Woman Arrested for Assault with a Firearm |

Copperopolis, CA..On 07/13/12 at approx. 4:00 PM Calaveras Sheriff’s deputies returned a phone call to a victim concerning a report of an assault with a firearm at a residence on the 6000 block of Ricky Road in Copperopolis. The deputy spoke with Carl Towe who reported that he had been involved in a verbal dispute the previous day (07/12/12) with his wife, Eva Towe (56) of Copperopolis. The dispute concerned ongoing family issues. After the dispute Carl went outside the residence with his adult granddaughter. While outside, Suspect Towe allegedly walked up behind Carl carrying a .22 caliber rifle. She pointed the rifle at Carl’s head while accusing him of calling one of her family members about her behavior....
