Copperopolis, CA...Hello Everyone. We are raising money for our father, Alan Swortfiguer. He is a loving father of nine, grandfather of three, a brother, uncle, and husband. He has had a life threatening congenital heart defect his whole life. Ever since he was a child he has had many battles with his health such as, cancer and two open heart surgeries. In recend months Alan has been batteling life threatening sepsis and right and left heart failure. In the past Alan always pulled through, until now. His heart is enlarged and his pulmonic valve is shot. The pulmonic valve is responsible for getting blood to the lungs to be oxygenated and then returned to the heart to deliver oxygen to his whole body. The Doctors have spoke about replacing the pulmonic valve, but the cancer and radiation from his past has detroyed the tissue of his heart, lungs, and vessels, which makes the valve replacement surgery very dangerous and the doctors unsure of whether to do it or not. The lack of oxygen his heart is pumping due to the damaged pulmonic valve has started to cause kidney and liver failure. HIs options at life are dwendling down to nothing. Currently he is at Stanford Hospital in Stanford, CA waiting to see if his body will improve so they perform surgery on his heart. The hope is to get as much fluid off him as possible and hope the kidneys have a good day so Alan has a better chance of making it through the surgery...

On the day we stopped by the CHP Helicopter was on hand to provide information on their operations which include at times air medical transport. CHP Pilot Jim Hendrix did a great job fielding questions from his young audience. We have a few photos of the event below and a short video of the CHP Helicopter coming in to land....

Sacramento, CA...Health care providers and travelers returning from Ebola affected regions will be individually assessed for exposure risk While there continue to be no reported or confirmed cases of Ebola in California, State Health Officer and California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Director Dr. Ron Chapman today took action to help prevent any potential spread of the disease in the state by issuing a quarantine order and associated guidelines that require counties to individually assess persons at risk for Ebola and tailor an appropriate level of quarantine as needed. This flexible, case-by-case approach will ensure that local health officers throughout the state prevent spread of the disease, while ensuring that individuals at risk for Ebola are treated fairly and consistently...
