Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! A mostly sunny day is ahead with a high of 39F and East winds in the single digits. A quick moving shortwave trough will bring a slight chance of snow shower activity later tonight and into tomorrow but the current model run shows it has a good potential to fizzle out. San Andreas, CA... Walter Ronald Zahniser was born in Berkeley, California on February 23, 1929 to Albert D. Zahniser and Edith D. Zahniser. With his wife Mary at his side, Ron passed away peacefully in his home on December 27, 2020, and laid to rest January 8, 2021.

USFS Extends Developed Campground Closure on Stanislaus and Other National Forests

USDA Forest Service, Pacific Southwest Region, extended the developed campground closure on 12 National Forests in California, including the Stanislaus National Forest, to provide consistent COVID-19 mitigation response in accordance with Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Stay-at-Home Orders. These regional orders will be in effect through Jan. 29, 2021.

Reckless Driver Accelerates Backwards into Deputy Vehicle and Gets Arrested in Tuolumne County

Tuolumne County, CA... Monday night, just after 8 pm, Deputy V. Lee observed a pickup truck driving recklessly in the Big Hill, Columbia area. Deputy Lee attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Matthew Carlile of Sonora, fled. A short pursuit ensued through the Gunsight Road and Quail Mine Road area. Matthew attempted to turn onto Four Wheel Drive but was unsuccessful due to the angle of the turn.
