San Andreas, CA... Last year the transit system scaled back its services which included a pause of the Saturday Hopper. As the community continues to open and events begin to return, we continue to look for ways to provide transportation to our residents and visitors.

We just received a truckload of Kid's Recruits, so if it's time for your young one to be in their own own boat, you're in luck! Sebastian is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week |

San Andreas, CA...Meet Sebastian, an especially handsome shorthaired white and gray tabby older kitten. Sebastian was a little over four months old when he and his siblings arrived at the shelter in mid-June. He is one of six kitties who were abandoned in a trailer at a mobile home park. Amazingly, when the kitties were discovered after a week on their own, they were healthy and appeared to be well cared for prior to their owner leaving. All have similar personalities, too – active, fun and friendly yet snuggly, gentle and calm. Sebastian enjoys being held for short periods of time but as he’s still very much a kitten, he prefers to run around and play between naptimes. Sebastian is accustomed to being with his housemates, though, and does not like to be alone. We feel he would do best if adopted with one of his buddies or into a home with another feline-friendly kitty.

Mokelumne Hill, CA...This morning Mokelumne Hill becamd the personification of Small Town Americana. Old Glory was flying & Red White & Blue were the color choices for today. Mountain Melody Women's Chorus led things off with a wonderful rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. CCWD Board Member Russ Thomas let the crowd in America the Beautiful and then it was Parade time. Dean Kelaita, MD was the Grand Marshal for 2021 especially in light of his efforts during the Covid pandemic. White Pines, CA...The 40th Annual GABA Arnold Independence Day Parade Livestream! The feed should go live at 9:45am & Parade Starts at 10am. We tested our network connection earlier and we hope it holds up when a few thousand people fill the area. We will have full parade video up for replay as well.

The 2021 Arnold GABA Independence Day Full Parade Video & 122 Photos |

Arnold, CA...This morning it was an honor to cover the 40th Annual GABA Independence Day Parade. This is an event that almost didn't happen at all do to Covid. With the state not officially opening until June 15th there was no way Caltrans could turn around a permit to have the normal parade on Hwy 4. So plan b was to have a parade on county roads. So this morning's parade ran an abbreviated route from Independence Hall to White Pines Park. It was a fun, community centric parade and Supervisor Merita Callaway and others deserve a huge Thank You for carrying the water on this project. It was a great event and a community lift until next year when the GABA Parade will once again take it's place on Hwy 4.
