Vallecito, CA...Mark your calendars for the 18th annual Love the Forest Concert at the Vida Buena Farms in Vallecito, Saturday, March 7th, beginning at 7pm. Expect the unexpected...from Bach to Rock, Ragtime to Swing and Billy Joel to Sting, it will be an evening of entertainment. Cantamos with Michela Macfarlane: Michela and Cantamos highlight their musical dexterity by moving from arias, traditional Latin songs, and musicals, to contemporary favorites. Their music moves seamlessly from English to Italian, Spanish to French, Portuguese to Hawaiian and back again. Michela Macfarlane spent ten years steeped exclusively in baroque music. To expand her singing world she moved to the realms of jazz, pop, and Latin sounds.

Murphys, CA...The Thief of Bagdad is a 1924 American silent swashbuckler film directed by Raoul Walsh and starring Douglas Fairbanks, and written by Achmed Abdullah and Lotta Woods. Freely adapted from One Thousand and One Nights, it tells the story of a thief who falls in love with the daughter of the Caliph of Baghdad. The Thief of Bagdad is now widely considered one of the great silent films and Fairbanks's greatest work.
Fairbanks biographer Jeffrey Vance writes, "An epic romantic fantasy-adventure inspired by several of the Arabian Nights tales, The Thief of Bagdad is the greatest artistic triumph of Fairbanks's career. The superb visual design, spectacle, imaginative splendor, and visual effects, along with his bravura performance (leading a cast of literally thousands), all contribute to making this his masterpiece."

Kiryat Shmona, Israel...After 4 years of research funded by Israel’s Ministry of Science & Technology, MIGAL’s researchers have developed an effective vaccine against avian coronavirus Infectious Bronchitis Virus (IBV), to be adapted soon and create a human vaccine against COVID-19. Israel’s Minister of Science and Technology, Mr. Ofir Akunis, commented: “Congratulations to MIGAL on this exciting breakthrough. I am confident that there will be further rapid progress, enabling us to provide a needed response to the grave global COVID-19 threat.” Minister Akunis has instructed the Director General of the Ministry of Science and Technology to fast-track all approval processes with the goal of bringing the human vaccine to market as quickly as possible.

Angels Camp, CA...The City of Angels Mayor & City Council in cooperation with Angels Camp Business Association, Destination Angels Camp and Bank of Stockton held a Celebration Dinner on January 27th at Bank of Stockton. The dinner was catered by The Pickle Patch. Angels Camp Business Association honored Cal Waste for their continued support of our Community. Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Another sunny day is ahead with a high of 52F and variable winds as it looks to be yet another stellar day in the High Sierra. Friday looks to be a repeat of today with a few degrees cooler than the previous days as the closed low will bring cooling over the forecasted area. Saturday the short wave moves into the area and brings a possible 2-4″ of new snow Saturday night and another 2-4″ on Sunday. These inside slider events are about to turn into more productive systems once we get past the first of March. Copious snow will return, we just have to wait a little longer sometimes……..It’s a great time to ski/ride don’t forget to check out our Lifts and Trails page Daily for projected operations.
