Amador County, CA... Our speaker for June will be Devin Olsen. Devin holds a bachelor’s degree in ecology and a master’s degree in fisheries science. He worked as a fisheries biologist for several years before starting his company Tactical Fly Fisher. He has produced three instructional films Modern Nymphing: European Inspired Techniques, Modern Nymphing Elevated: Beyond the Basics, and Adaptive Fly Fishing. He is also the author of the book Tactical Fly Fishing: Lessons Learned from Competition for All Anglers.

San Andreas, CA... Meet Gypsy, a Boxer/Pit Bull mix estimated to be about one and half years old. Aside from her having puppies recently, we don’t know very much about her as she came to us as a stray. Exuberant and playful, Gypsy will need a family with adults or older children since she likes to jump up on people to show affection. A little more training is in obvious order but she does want to please, sitting for treats and taking them with a soft mouth. Gypsy remains quiet in her run, too, often amidst a kennel of barking dogs and bleating goats. She also tested well with other shelter dogs, both male and female.

Memorial Day Holiday Travel to Rebound to More Than 37 Million |

Orlando, FL...AAA Travel expects a significant rebound in the number of Americans planning to travel this Memorial Day holiday weekend. From May 27 through May 31, more than 37 million people are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home, an increase of 60% from last year when only 23 million traveled, the lowest on record since AAA began recording in 2000. The expected strong increase in demand from last year’s holiday, which fell during the early phase of the pandemic, still represents 13%—or nearly 6 million—fewer travelers than in 2019. AAA urges those who choose to travel this year to exercise caution and take measures to protect themselves and others as the pandemic continues.

Ebbetts Pass Fire District Instructed a River & Flood Water Rescue Class: |

Arnold, CA...This week we had 8 students go through a 40 hour River and Flood Water Rescue Technician class. They learned how to safely and efficiently remove victims from floods waters, rapids, vehicles stuck in moving water etc. As a final project we removed about 75' of 1" steel cable from a rapid below Sourgrass that was creating a hazard for rafters and kayakers

500,000 Working California Families Still Need to Apply for $220 Million in Tax Credits |
