Long Serving Sergeant Mark Kerzich Retires from Sheriff's Dept

Sonora, CA...From the Tuolumne Sheriff's Dept..."We say farewell to Sergeant Mark Kerzich, who began his career with the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office in 1996 as a Jail Deputy Sheriff. In 1997, Mark was promoted to Deputy Sheriff. He became a Range Safety Officer and Instructor in 1999, and was promoted to Corporal in 2002. In 2004, Mark joined the SWAT team, and was promoted to Sergeant in 2013. During his time with our agency, Mark has worn many hats ranging from Field Training Officer, Court Security, and the Deputy Sheriff Association President.
San Andreas, CA...Carmen Romona Giuffra, 78, peacefully passed in to the Gates of Heaven with her children by her side on March 17 2019 in San Andreas. Carmen married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Gerald, in 1959 and they went on to have two loving children. Carmen lived in Calaveras County for 50 years where she worked at Mark Twain Hospital for 33 years: In 2008 the Hospital recognized her hard work by naming the kitchen and cafeteria "Carmen's Cafe". Carmen retired in 2010 to enjoy time with her family. Carmen's love for cooking and family made every occasion special.

San Andreas, CA...“Saving Lives from the Inside Out” is the topic for the March 26 workshop which is the latest in Mark Twain Medical Center’s (MTMC) “A Plan 4 Me” series. The session begins at 11 a.m. in the MTMC Education Center with a free lunch to follow. “A Plan 4 Me” workshops provide access to information that can help to address everyday situations, as well as identifying and preventing health issues. It also creates opportunities for MTMC to showcase staff experience and depth of knowledge.

Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! 8″ of new snow for the current storm total. A break in the system will give way to mostly sunny skies today as the high could approach 42F and variable winds from the East in the am and shifting to the Southwest in the afternoon. Tonight, surface gradients will begin to tighten up so winds will begin to increase as the next wave of snow begins it’s journey to the Central Sierra. Monday day could see a few inches fall then Monday night 5-9″, Tuesday 5-9″, Tuesday night 12-18″ and another 17-23″ during the day Wednesday before tapering off. Unsettled snowy weather will remain in the area into Thursday at the current model runs. Conditions are amazing currently and with 465″ of snow so far this season we look to have awesome conditions well into spring. Our closing date is currently April 21st. Jim & Nancy Conway have opened JC Power Equipment in AVery. The power couple have been married since Nov, 11 1990. They have two children James and Andrea and two Granddaughters Athena and Arabella. History in power equipment. 1982/83 1983/84 high school junior and senior yr's, Attended CCOC ( central county occupational center) Vocational school. During my jr yr, I was asked to compete against other vocational programs in our area in a CA state sponsored program. The instructor informed me that I was the first, first year student to be asked to compete.
