Some Seasonal Roads on Stanislaus National Forest will Remain Closed Past April 15

Sonora, CA...Stanislaus National Forest will open seasonal roads beginning April 15, but some forest roads will remain closed until forest crews can inspect them to ensure they were not damaged during this year’s winter storms. Jason Kuiken, Stanislaus National Forest supervisor, said workers haven’t been able to inspect all the forest roads yet because many are still covered with snow. A series of heavy storms during the 2018-2019 winter led to significant snow levels on all ranger districts.

Calaveras County Releases General Plan Update Final EIR

San Andreas, CA...The Calaveras County Planning Department is pleased to announce the release of the long-awaited Final Environmental Impact Report for the General Plan update. The FEIR has been posted on the Department website: http://planning.calaverasgov.us/GP-Update. Hard copies and CDs will be available for purchase at the Planning Department office once printing has been completed during the week of April 15-19. A copy for public review will also be available during the normal business hours of the Department, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Calaveras High Celebrates Fire Program EMR Certifications

San Andreas, CA....Calaveras High Schools CTE (Career Technical Education) Fire Program just graduated these boys with their EMR (Emergency Medical Responders) Certifications. They put in collectively 2800 hours. Their teacher Suzanne Butler put this awesome ceremony together for them today. Thank you Assembly member Frank Bigelow for presenting resolutions to each student. Thank you Supervisor Ben Stopper for supporting our students.
