Arnold, cA...May 11-12: Crews will be digging a trench and installing sections of 12-inch ductile iron pipe along Sequoia Road heading east across Manuel Road and along Fir Street toward Dunbar Road. This work will cause traffic delays and heavy construction equipment will be moving in and out of the area. There will be road closures and one-way traffic control on Sequoia Road, Manual Road and Fir Street. At times, through traffic will be limited to residents only. Those who live in Mill Woods are likely to experience delays.

Arnold, CA...GABA’s first mixer of the season was held at the Bistro Espresso in Arnold Monday evening. A good sized crowd was on hand for food, drinks mingling & more at the expanded Bistro Espresso. Some of the plans for summer include a full concert season at Cedar Center, The Arnold Parade, The 13th Annual Arnold Classic Car Show & more.

Mi-Wuk Village, CA...Mi-Wuk Sugar Pine Fire Protection District Fire Board accepted the resignation of Chief Larry Crabtree at the May 9, 2017 board meeting. “It is with a heavy heart that I make this decision,” said Crabtree, yet, “I’m going out on a high note.” Crabtree will continue in the position of Chief until May 1, 2018.

Murphys, CA...Kimberly Pratt of Murphys, California has been selected to be the new Executive Director of InfraGard, an organization dedicated to partnership between the FBI and members of the private sector. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Pratt was a Business Process Consultant, Information Technology for Wells Fargo. Pratt stated, “I’m very excited to be the Executive Director of such an exciting and dynamic organization that works at the local level across the country to protect the critical infrastructure and national security of our nation. San Andreas, CA...NOTICE OF INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE DECLARATION. Lead Agency: Calaveras County Planning Department, 891 Mountain Ranch Rd., San Andreas, CA 95249. Project Description: 2015-011 Administrative Use Permit – Calaveras Healthy Impact Product Solutions (CHIPS) Woody Biomass-Fired Combined Heat and Power Project The proposed project is a community-scale 3 megawatt (MW) biomass combined heat and power facility. The facility is designed to create electricity, heat, and biochar through gasification of woody biomass feedstock primarily collected from forest-sourced biomass. Biomass feedstock will be converted to a conditioned (cleaned) producer gas (gas) in the gasifier, and the gas is used in an internal combustion engine to run a generator to make electricity. The electricity is intended to be sold to Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) on their distribution-level circuit. Major pieces of equipment to support this operation are expected to be: a feedstock drying system, gasifiers and their respective gas conditioning systems, internal combustion engine generator sets, a standby flare device, biochar storage, dry biomass storage, a truck scale, a fork lift, and a front loader.

ATTOM Data Solutions, curator of the nation's largest multi-sourced property database, today released its April 2017 U.S. Foreclosure Market data, which shows foreclosure filings — default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions — were reported on 77,049 U.S. properties in April, down 7 percent from the previous month and down 23 percent from a year ago to the lowest level since November 2005.

Record Set for Longest DRONE Urban Package Delivery in the U.S. |

Austin, TX...A new record has been set in long-distance drone delivery. On May 5, 2017, a Nevada UAS Consortium (Team Roadrunner) set the record flying a fixed-wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) over 97 miles to Austin, Texas using cellular connectivity. Launched from a central Texas urban location, the UAV flew a preplanned route through the National Airspace System (NAS) using a combination of a mobile command and control (C2), a visual observer team, and stationary visual observers (VO) located across the flight route were equipped with enhanced radios and cell phone communications which allowed the UAV to be flown using a cellular communications link until it successfully landed and delivered its package in Austin, Texas.

San Andreas, CA...The Supervisors day is now underway with a closed session for a conference with labor negotiators (Judy Hawkins, Director of Human Resources & Risk Management) re: Deputy Sheriff's Association (DSA), Sheriff's Management Unit (SMU), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), and Calaveras County Public Safety Employees Association (CCPSEA) negotiations. The Board will recess from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM to participate in the Government Center Frog Jump activities. Some of their agenda items: Adopt a Proclamation recognizing the Calaveras County Fair and Jumping Frog Jubilee, May 18 - 21, 2017. Adopt a Proclamation recognizing May as Mental Health Awareness Month in Calaveras County. Approve an agreement and Purchase Order to GEONorth, LLC in the amount of $53,064.04 to obtain Satellite Imagery for Calaveras County which will be used to support the needs of Cannabis Cultivation registration and enforcement. These items and many more are on the enclosed agenda.

Four States Led By Washington AG Ferguson Sue Trump Administration Over Coal Leases |

Olympia, WA...Attorney General Bob Ferguson today filed a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Department of the Interior and the Bureau of Land Management over a program to lease coal mining rights on public land, which contributes to significant coal-train traffic through the state of Washington. The lawsuit challenges Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke’s decision to restart the federal coal leasing program without supplementing or replacing its nearly 40-year-old environmental study. That decision, Ferguson argues, violates the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
