Murphys, CA...Having been involved in Calaveras County government for many years, I am constantly impressed with how much the people in District 3 care about our community. The 278 men and women who publicly endorsed my campaign represent a cross section of people who make this district the wonderful place that it is. The Democrats, Republicans, and Independents who supported me are more concerned with achievements than party labels.

Brooks Koepka, who won last year at Erin Hills by shooting 16 under par – finished 17 strokes higher at Shinnecock Hills, but a final-round 68 on Sunday was good enough for a one-stroke victory over Tommy Fleetwood.

Sacramento, CA...California Attorney General Becerra today issued the following statement in response to the Fourth District Appellate Court’s ruling in the End of Life Option Act litigation: “Today the Fourth District Appellate Court granted our request for immediate stay in People ex rel. Xavier Becerra v. Ahn, reinstating California’s End of Life Option Act while litigation is ongoing. This ruling provides some relief to California patients, their families, and doctors who have been living in uncertainty while facing difficult health decisions.

Sacramento, CA...Yesterday, both houses of the Legislature approved the state’s 2018-19 State Budget and a handful of budget trailer bills that assist in implementing the State Budget Package. It should be noted that the State Budget Package remains incomplete – there are a number of remaining budget trailer bills awaiting action, including measures pertaining to Cap-and-Trade allocations and to address Disaster Response Emergency Operations. Over the next several days and weeks, further items will be considered and adopted. The $200 billion state spending plan includes $139 billion in General Fund expenditures, $57.1 billion in special fund expenditures, and $3.9 billion in bond expenditures. Ting (D-San Francisco) – Hate crimes: law enforcement policies. AB 2243 by Assemblymember Laura Friedman (D-Glendale) – Evidence: admissibility. AB 2901 by the Committee on Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials – Cleaning Product Right to Know Act of 2017.
The Second Murphys Complete Streets Workshop is June 27

Murphys, California – On Wednesday, June 27, the public is invited to attend the second workshop for the Murphys Complete Streets Plan. The project is a cooperative effort between Calaveras County, the Calaveras Council of Governments, and Caltrans to develop a plan for the Highway 4 corridor through Murphys. Based on close coordination and input from the community, the plan will identify and prioritize improvements to provide safe connectivity along the corridor by all modes, including walking and biking.
