Researchers Achieve Breakthrough in 3D Printed Marine Grade Stainless Steel |

Livermore, CA..."Marine grade" stainless steel is valued for its performance under corrosive environments and for its high ductility -- the ability to bend without breaking under stress -- making it a preferred choice for oil pipelines, welding, kitchen utensils, chemical equipment, medical implants, engine parts and nuclear waste storage. However, conventional techniques for strengthening this class of stainless steels typically comes at the expense of ductility.

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday, November 2nd 2017, Sheriff Rick DiBasilio presented several students from Valley Springs Elementary School, Avery Middle School and Michelson Elementary School with backpacks and school supplies as prizes. These students participated in the Sheriff’s Office third annual ‘Say No to Drugs’ Poster Contest that concluded last week coinciding with Red Ribbon Week.

Men's Health is Workshop Focus for the Month of November |

San Andreas, CA...Men’s health is the topic of a free workshop on Nov. 9 at Mark Twain Medical Center. “Tackle Your Health” is the theme for the 10 a. m. to noon event focusing on lifestyle and health resources for men. A variety of presenters and health resource organizations will be featured and lunch is included. There is limited seating. Call 754-5919 for reservations and information. “Tackle Your Health” is part of MTMC’s ongoing series of “A Plan 4 Me” free planning workshops. It is co-sponsored by MTMC and the Mark Twain Health Care District. The district is providing a donated San Francisco 49ers DeForest Buckner laser-engraved football valued at $50 to be awarded at the workshop along with “Tackle Your Health” tee-shirts.

Michelson School Family Loses Everything In Fire |

Murphys, CA...Dear Michelson School Community, One of our Michelson families lost their home to a fire today. Thankfully, everyone is safe but the family has lost everything. One can only imagine how difficult this is, especially with children involved. We would like to help this family by collecting gift cards. We regret we cannot accept cash or check donations, but a gift card IN ANY amount would be so appreciated by the family.

Speakers Explore Today’s California Native American Experience |

Columbia, CA...The Columbia College Foundation will host an enlightening look at the changes and challenges of today’s Native American experience Thursday, November 16. Speakers include author and ethnic studies professor Dr. Melissa Moreno of Woodland Community College, Carlos Giesdorf (Me-Wuk), Cultural Coordinator of the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk, and Columbia College Counselor Stephanie Beaver (Hupa) who will moderate. The event, held during National Native American Heritage Month, will be held in the Dogwood Forum at Columbia College and is free to the public. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the evening’s program will run from 6:30-8:00pm.
