Register Now for the 4th Annual Angels Camp Gold Run on September 24th |

Angels Camp, CA...Register Now for the 4th Annual Angels Camp Gold Run on September 24th. A 5K/10k with a 1 Mile kids Fun Run. Route travels through the historic Gold country town of Angels Camp CA. Proceeds benefit Mark Twain Elementary. Enjoy the Sierra Foothills on a 5k/10k race through the historic town of Angels Camp. Proceeds benefit the students of Mark Twain Elementary School. The race will kick off with a Kids 1 Mile Fun Run followed by the 5k & 10K races. All races begin in downtown Angels Camp at the Visitor’s Center. After race festivities and award at Utica Park until 2pm with music, food, drinks, games and raffle prizes. More details to come! Hope to see you there! Tickets range from $10-$35.

Preparing for a major disaster increases your chance of survival and minimizes the impact to your health. This is a FREE event to help residents prepare for natural and manmade disasters. Local businesses and agencies will provide seminars, demonstrations, and booths to share the latest information about emergency preparedness! Presentations By: American Red Cross, Cal-Fire, Pacific Gas & Electric, PHI Air Medical, Ebbetts Pass Gas, local law enforcement & more!

San Andreas, CA...Mark Twain Medical Center (MTMC) will be holding its 19th Annual Fall Health Fair on Saturday, September 30th from 7am to noon at the Hospital Campus in San Andreas. “Our purpose is to serve our community in many ways,” said Bob Diehl, Hospital President. “MTMC cares deeply about the health and wellbeing of our community members and beyond. Hosting our annual health fairs is just one way that we are able to provide valuable and needed resources in our rural community.”

Murphys, CA...Here we are again talking about change. The seasons are changing. Our schedules with the more relaxed days of summer are back to the tighter routines for school and the fall season. The changes of fall are, at least, somewhat predictable. Still, change affects each of us in different ways. Some welcome it and some struggle with it. However you deal with change, there is always a bit of the unknown to face.

University of California Sues Trump Administration on Repeal of DACA Program |

Oakland, CA...The University of California today (Sept. 8) filed suit in federal court against the Trump administration for wrongly and unconstitutionally violating the rights of the University and its students by rescinding the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program on “nothing more than unreasoned executive whim.”

3rd Calaveras Has Talent Finale is September 16th at Bret Harte Theater |

Angels Camp, CA...The Calaveras Youth Organization be holding its 3rd Calaveras Has Talent Finale on September 16th, 2017 at 6pm at Bret Harte Theater. Calaveras Has Talent has become an annual competition of local talent from Calaveras County. Singers, musicians and dancers have performed in competition from two quarter finals and a semi final at both Bret Harte Theater and the Calaveras Performing Arts Center this past August. This year’s final features six finalists in youth music performance, six finalists in adult music performance and 3 finalists in our open dance/other category. The winners of the final win cash prizes and trophies, along with performance opportunities at 2018 Calaveras Jumping Frog Jubilee. Our youth finalist also goes on a school assembly tour throughout Calaveras County schools. The event has become the main fundraising drive for the Calaveras Youth Organization.
