Fatal Motorcycle Collision Takes Life of 22 Year Old Sonora Woman

Sonora, CA...On September 15, 2019, at approximately 12:35am, 22-year-old, Gavin Daniel Rodgers from Sonora was riding his 1993 Harley Davidson motorcycle with a 22-year-old female passenger from Sonora. They were traveling northbound on Longeway Road at an undetermined rate of speed. As he approached Phoenix Lake Road, he failed to stop for the posted stop sign and began to make a left turn onto westbound Phoenix Lake Road. As he continued to make the left turn, he lost control of the motorcycle and it overturned onto its left side. As a result, both Mr. Rodgers and his passenger were ejected from the motorcycle. Mr. Rodgers sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision. His female passenger suffered major injuries and unfortunately, she succumbed to those injuries at the scene.

Governor Newsom Grants Executive Clemency to 21 on September 13th

Sacramento, CA...Governor Gavin Newsom today announced that he has granted 21 commutations.  The California Constitution gives the Governor the authority to grant clemency, including in the form of a commutation. A clemency grant recognizes a person’s efforts in self-development, rehabilitation and prospects for successful community reentry. A clemency grant does not forgive or minimize the harm caused by the crime. People currently serving sentences in California prisons may apply for a commutation.

4,347 Marijuana Plants Eradicated at Grow on Hubbard Rd. in Sheep Ranch

San Andreas, CA...On 9/5/2019 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Unit served a search warrant for illegal marijuana cultivation at an address in the 1300 block of Hubbard Road in Sheep Ranch. Deputies eradicated 4347 growing marijuana plants that were being cultivated in seven (7) large “hoop house” structures. Additionally, deputies seized a small amount of processed marijuana. Calaveras Code Enforcement Officers were called to the scene and located numerous code violations including unpermitted structures and substandard electrical practices.

CHP Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest of Angels Camp Man & Twain Harte Woman

Sonora, CA...On September 9, 2019, at approximately 12:18 am, CHP officers observed a white 2007 Cadillac CTS fail to stop for the posted stop sign at East Avenue and Tuolumne Road North. The Cadillac was being driven by, 52-year-old Joseph McIntyre out of Angels Camp. The Cadillac made a right turn onto southbound Tuolumne Road North from East Avenue and as the CHP officers got closer to the Cadillac, they noticed the left side brake light was not working. The officers made an enforcement stop on the vehicle and contacted Mr. McIntyre and his passenger, 28-year-old Shannon Yielding out of Twain Harte.

Deputies Made an Arrest Stemming From 911 Domestic Violence Call.

Sonora, CA...Tuolumne County Deputies made an arrest stemming from a 911 domestic violence call. On Friday morning, a woman called our office to report she was being threatened by several men in the area of Serrano Road and Mono Way in Sonora. The victim reported she was hiding in a white sedan. As deputies headed in that direction, they spotted a vehicle matching the description and tried to pull the car over. The driver led deputies on a chase before turning into a driveway on Serrano Road. At that point, the driver ran off and the car rolled off the edge of the driveway down an embankment before crashing into some brush and trees. The woman and another male passenger were not hurt. The vehicle was determined to have been stolen and the driver, 19-year-old Zachary Richardson, has not yet been found.

Coulterville, CA...On September 6, 2019 at approximately 8:55 pm, a 57-year-old male from Clovis, CA, was riding his 2006 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle northbound on State Route 49 north of the Tuolumne/Mariposa County line at an unknown rate of speed.   As he entered a slight left curve in the roadway, the rider allowed his motorcycle to travel onto the east gravel shoulder of State Route 49.  He lost control of his motorcycle and it overturned and struck a road sign.  The rider was ejected, and the motorcycle came to rest on top of him.

Domestic Violence Call Ends in Arrest of Victor Medina after 8 Hour Standoff

La Grange, CA...An 8-hour standoff ends with the arrest of a wanted felon. Yesterday morning, Deputies responded to a home on Avenida Central in La Grange regarding a domestic disturbance. When deputies arrived, the victim was outside of the home. Deputies learned 35-year-old Victor Medina physically attacked the victim, threatened her with an ax, and prevented her from leaving the home. As the victim was escaping, Medina grabbed a rifle and pointed it at the her.

A Sonora Man Arrested and Charged With Trying to Kill His Mother.

Sonora, CA...Early Saturday morning, deputies responded to a 911 call at a home on Fallview Drive in Sonora. A woman reported 23-year-old Matthew Rose was trying to kill her. Deputies arrived at the home and found the woman hiding in a bathroom. Rose had physically attacked the woman and strangled her. He brandished a large kitchen knife and threatened to kill her and then himself.

Shooting at Tuolumne Area Marijuana Grow

Tuolumne, CA...Detectives are currently working to find the suspects involved in a shooting that happened over the weekend. On Saturday night, our office received a report of a man who had been shot on a property on Buchanan Road and Forest Road 2N11 in Tuolumne. When deputies arrived, a man came out of a travel trailer covered in blood and claimed he had been shot. The victim reported there were several men involved in the incident wearing tri camouflage clothing and camouflage masks. The suspects left the scene on the victim’s off road vehicle before deputies arrived. Several tents containing marijuana plants were found on the property during a search. The victim was taken by helicopter to a hospital out of the area.

Expansion of California’s Red Flag Law Heads to the Governor

Sacramento, CA...California is poised to expand its red flag law after a recent study suggested such policies may be effective in reducing the risk of mass shootings. The Assembly sent Governor Newsom AB 61 by Assemblymember Phil Ting (D-San Francisco) today, which gives more Californians access to a court process that could temporarily take away someone’s firearms through a Gun Violence Restraining Order (GVRO), if they pose a danger to themselves or others. Current law only allows law enforcement and immediate family members to file a GVRO. Ting’s proposal adds educators, employers and co-workers.
