Sonora, Calif. (August 6, 2008)…The Forest Service today announced that, because of high fire danger, a Forest Order enacting temporary fire restrictions is in effect in Moderate Fire Hazard Areas of the Stanislaus National Forest (NF). The fire restriction prohibits campfires, briquette barbecues, and smoking outside developed campgrounds in designated Moderate Hazard Areas of the Forest. Mokelumne Hill, CA....On August 5th, 2008, Investigators assigned to the Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit (CNEU), eradicated a large marijuana garden(marinara as our son Granger calls it:) in a rural area of Mokelumne Hill. This is the second grow located in the past week....

Fricot City, CA...On July 30th Investigators assigned to the Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit (CNEU) raided a marijuana garden located off of Fncot City Road near Right of Passage group home. Investigators seized in excess of 3,200 marijuana plants but said several thousand plants had been harvested prior to their arrival at the grow site. Angels Camp, CA....Join the Firefighters from the Angels Camp Fire Department for the 46th Annual Fireman's FunDay on August 23rd. Fireman's FunDay is an annual benefit for the Angels Camp Fire Department. In 1961, the firemen from the Angels Camp Volunteer Fire Department would host an annual control burn and then after they were all done they would allow all the children to take a ride on the back of the fire engine.......


A bunch of county youngsters get a preview of the traditional ride on the 1963 GMC fire engine for Firemen's FunDay. FIRE NEWS.....UPDATE: Telegraph Fire in Mariposa County Has Burned 29,600 Acres with an Estimated Cost of $9 Million Dollars....Continuing Updates Enclosed

Mariposa County, CA... On Friday, July 25th, at approximately 3:15pm a fire was reported on Highway 140 near and Sherlock Road in the Midpines Area above Mariposa County. According to Cal Fire, the fire has now burned almost 30,000 acres, 25 residences, 27 outbuildings/storage buildings. There are currently 4,000 residences threatened. The fire is 10% contained as of 7/29/08 at 7am. Many structures are threatened in the Midpine Area and evacuation warnings are in place for residences in the immediate area of the fire. Agencies assisting Cal fire include:Mariposa County Fire, Mariposa Sheriffs Department, BLM, USFS, CCC, and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.......

UPDATE on Hwy 4 Closure from CHP Update...Hwy 4 is now open as of 4:54pm....DUI Arrest Made In Vehicle Caused Fire. Parts of Pool Station Still Without Power!

Copperopolis, CA...Just spoke with CHP Officer Castillo and this is the latest update on the Hwy 4 Closure. If you are heading East on Hwy 4 you will be detoured onto Pool Station Road towards San Andreas. West Bound Travelers will be detoured either to San Andreas and take Pool Station Rd or go over through Jamestown and take Hwy 108. Estimated Hwy 4 opening time is 5pm. The Hwy 4 closure was related to the fire this afternoon. A 32 year old Angels Camp Female was arrested for the DUI caused single vehicle crash that started the fire. Some Pool Station Residents still without power. PG&E Crews will be working to restore power as soon as access issues have been resolved. The CHP release is enclosed...

TRAFFIC NEWS....Multiple Accidents in Calaveras County...UPDATED

Calaveras County, CA...CHP is responding to a three collisions at this hour. There is what may be a hit and run accident with injuries at Hwy 26 and Hwy 49 in Mokelumne Hill. It is coming in as a vehicle vs pedestrian. They are medi-flighting a cyclist out now to a nearby hospital. It is still being determined if it was actually a hit and run or solo accident. Updates to follow. UPDATE...4:15pm...It is confirmed that is was a solo cyclist collision. Apparently the cyclist was intoxicated while cycling and went down an embankment. He is being flown to Doctors Hospital of Modesto....Accident #2... CHP & EPFD are also working an injury accident in Arnold that was blocking a lane. The Arnold accident should be in the clearing stages now. One injured party was transferred to MTSJ Hospital. There is a third non-injury collision at Burson Road in Burson that is blocking traffic. Use caution in the affected areas.

Valley Springs, CA...Just before 9pm last night a 61 year old Valley Springs man lost control of his vehicle while on his way from San Andreas to Valley Springs. His vehicle overturned and he was found shortly afterward unconscious inside his car. He was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. CHP release is enclosed...
