Escaped Debris Burn Cause of 28 Acre Fire in Phoenix Lake Yesterday |

Sonora, CA....CAL Fire is saying an escaped debris burn is the the cause of the 28 acre vegetation that occurred on Wednesday at 14740 Lakeside Drive in Phoenix Lake. There were no injuiries or structures involved. Damage dollar estimate not available at this time. Hand crews continue to be on scene until everything is mopped up. CHP is reporting an injury collision at Navajo Drive. One person is being loaded onto medi-flight now. It looks as though an ATV is involved. |

On April 22, 2008 the Summit Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest, will begin prescribed burning on sections of the 1,575 acre North Beardsley Underburn project, located approximately 5 miles northwest of Strawberry, along Forest Service road 5N02. CHP is reporting a minor injury collision at Hwy 4 just south of Little John Road. There are three children and one adult with minor injuries being taken to local hospitals.

Susan Skalski named as Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor |

Sonora, CA.... Susan Skalski, currently Deputy Forest Supervisor on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests in Northern Idaho, will be the new Forest Supervisor of the Stanislaus National Forest in Sonora, US Forest Service officials announced today. "I am very excited Susan will be joining us in Region 5, said Pacific Southwest Regional Forester Randy Moore, "Her strong background in natural resources makes her a great fit as the Forest Supervisor on the Stanislaus National Forest."....

CHP Release in on MVA that Occurred This Morning |

San Andreas, CA....We just received the CHP release on the motor vehicle accident that occurred this morning at 8am at Little John Road North of Quiver Street. There was one adult from Copperopolis and three children also of Copperopolis that were transported to different local hospitals with minor injuries. Apparently the driver of a 90 Toyota was traveling northbound on Little John Road at a speed of 50-55mph. As she was negotiating a curve in the roadway, her vehicle started to fishtail. She then hit her brakes and lost control of her vehicle eventually overturning. The full CHP release is enclosed.....

Murphys, CA...A 71 year old Murphys man was rear ended by an Arnold man on Saturday on Murphys Grade Rd. There was moderate damage to the victims car and an undetermined amount of damage to the other vehicle.... |

Angels Camp, CA….This afternoon the Annual Volunteer Firefighter Academy held training at Angels Camp Fire Department Station 2. The training agenda included hose evolutions, hose lays, portable water sources, pumps and large diameter hose. Bill Fullerton, coordinator of the fire academy stated, “The academy gives volunteer firefighters the basic firefighter training and techniques.” ……..

On April 21, 2008 the Mi-Wok Ranger District, Stanislaus National Forest, will begin the 400 acre Wright's Creek prescribed burn project, located approximately 4 miles south of Long Barn in the Tuolumne River drainage near Fahey Meadow, and north of Marble Mountain. Over a five day period, approximately 400 acres will be treated with low intensity fire, depending on conditions. Smoke will be visible in the area, and from Highway 108....

Valley Springs, CA...On April 8, 2008, at approximately 2:15pm, Sheriff's Detectives and members of the Narcotics Team received information that a parolee at large was in the Valley Springs area. Detectives identified the suspect and attempted to contact the parole agent, and the suspect fled on a BMX style bicycle. After a short chase the suspect crashed his bicycle.
