Sacramento, CA...In his 2014-15 State Budget released last week, Governor Brown proposed the complete elimination of funding for the Agricultural Education Incentive Grant, which supports high quality Agricultural Education standards in our public schools. This grant program is designed to provide matching funds for districts who commit to meeting state-approved program standards in Ag Education, including classroom instruction, supervised agricultural experience projects, and leadership training through the Future Farmers of America (FFA) student organization....

UCCE Master Food Preserver volunteers learn research-based information and then share that knowledge with our communities in Amador and Calaveras counties through public classes, community events, and newsletters....

Umpqua Bank in Valley Springs Burglarized |

| Valley Springs, CA...On 01/22/14 at approx. 10:25 pm, Calaveras County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Umpqua Bank on Highway 26 in Valley Springs for an alarm. Deputies arrived on scene within minutes of the alarm notification. While searching the bank deputies found ceiling tiles that had fallen to the floor. During the investigation it was discovered that the suspect climbed onto the roof and entered the bank through a vent. Once inside the bank the suspect activated the alarm system. Several drawers were ransacked, but nothing appeared to have been stolen. The suspect was able to flee the scene just prior to the arrival of the deputies.... |

Valley Springs, CA...HorseSpeak Center for Personal Development, Inc, the nonprofit organization devoted to providing emotional support, healing and growth through the magic of horses, is hosting a fundraising dance February 14, 2014 at the Veterans Hall in Valley Springs, CA. The cost of admission is $15 for adults, $10 students, and free for 6 and under. Proceeds will go toward supporting these exciting new programs for people in need....

Federlein Family Fund Donates to Calaveras Community Foundation |

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) has been the recipient of over $81,000 over the past several years from The Federlein Family Fund at the San Francisco Foundation specifically to benefit area seniors. An additional generous grant of $20,000 received in December enabled CCF to provide surprise grants to various local organizations. These funds are in memory of Lloyd Federlein....
